International Classification

Sharing different perspectives and experiences makes all of us stronger. Cultural curiosity enriches us. Making global friends connects us. That’s what we believe at Clayton State, and that’s why our international student program is so important to our campus community.

Only a few miles from the diverse, bustling city of Atlanta, Georgia, Clayton State offers numerous opportunities for cultural and hands-on learning experiences. Consistently recognized by US News & World Report as having the most diverse student body among colleges and universities in the South, students from all over the world have made Clayton State their home away from home. We invite you to make it yours, too.

Not sure if you’re considered an international student? Read the international student classification.

Thank you for considering Clayton State University to continue your educational journey. International students must meet basic admission requirements for their classification and you may have additional requirements based on visa type and educational history.

Applicants to Clayton State University are classified “international” if they meet any of the following criteria;

  • Students who are currently in the U.S. on an F-1 (student) visa.
  • Students who are currently living outside the U.S. and will require an F-1 visa to study in the United States.
  • Students who are currently in the U.S. on any other class of visa.
  • Students who are in the process of applying for Permanent Residency status, but have not yet received the Permanent Residency card.
  • Students who have received a Permanent Residency card.
  • Students who have been educated outside of the U.S.

International Credentials

You must submit all official transcripts from your high school and/or all post-secondary records. All transcripts must be in English; if not in English, they must be translated by a certified company. Please submit the certified translations along with your original official transcripts in the indigenous language.

If you have 30 or more transferable credits from an accredited college or university, you must submit an official copy of all college transcripts. (If you are unsure you have the transfer credits, please submit your secondary school transcripts as well).

Clayton State University requires that all international academic documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, leaving examination results, etc.) be formally evaluated by an independent evaluation service, which can be found below:
