Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable $40.00 application fee. Online applicants must use a credit or debit card to pay the application fee.

You must submit all official transcripts from your high school/or all post-secondary records. All transcripts must be in English; if not in English, they must be translated by a certified company. Please submit the certified translations along with your original official transcripts in the indigenous language.

If you have 30 or more transferable credits from an accredited college or university, you must submit an official copy of all college transcripts. (If you are unsure you have the transfer credits, please submit your secondary school transcripts as well).

Clayton State University requires that all international academic documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, leaving examination results, etc.) be formally evaluated by an independent evaluation service, which can be found below:

If you are applying as an incoming freshman, you must submit official SAT/ACT test scores.

If you are applying as a transfer student, you must have 30 or more transferable hours to not require the SAT/ACT. We will determine upon receiving your official transcripts and evaluation (if applicable). Should you not have 30 or more transferable hours, you must submit official SAT/ACT test scores.

Official test scores must arrive directly from the testing source. No photocopies, faxes, scans or email attachments are accepted.

Some applicants can be classified as Freshman Transfer or Non-traditional freshman.

Freshman Transfer

A Freshman Transfer is someone who graduated from high school in the last five years and attended another college/university, but earned less than 30 semester hours or 50 quarter hours of transferable college course credit.    

Non-traditional Freshman

A Non-Traditional Freshman is someone who graduated from high school, or would have graduated from high school, more than five years ago, and has never attended college.

Non-traditional Transfer

A Non-traditional Transfer is someone who graduated from high school, or would have graduated from high school, more than five years ago, and has some but less than 30 semester hours or 50 quarter hours of transferable college course credit.

English is the medium of instruction in all courses at Clayton State University, except foreign language courses. International applicants whose primary native language is not English must document proof of proficiency in English through one of the following options:

• TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). The internet based TOEFL, or “ibT”. The following TOEFL scores are acceptable:
  • 75 total on the internet-based TOEFL (ibT), or
  • 540+ on the paper-based TOEFL if the ibT is not available in your region
• The International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • 6.0 total minimum scores

• Cambridge C1 Advanced (Certificate of Advanced English)
  • 180 minimum scale score
• Completion of an approved University System of Georgia (USG) intensive ESL program.
• Completion of College English/English Composition and Rhetoric from a regionally accredited U.S. College or University with a minimum grade of “C”.
• Two years of English (not ESL) taken in a U.S. high school with minimum grades of “C”.
