Academic Success Workshops
The Center for Academic Success offers a variety of academic workshops designed to help students excel academically by meeting the demands of college-level study. Workshop attendance is strictly voluntary, however, specific students (e.g. Learning Support or Readmission Appeal students) are required to attend workshops. We encourage students to register in advance for a workshop, however registration is not required to attend a workshop.
No Pain, No Gain: Effective Study Strategies
Saturday: February 8, 2020; 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Informs students about many different ways they can process course material. Also covers the best study habits to develop for a successful academic career.
The Glass is Half-filled: Midterm Prep
Monday: February 17, 2020; 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
This workshop will help you be more prepared for your midterm exams. Among the topics included are assessing your midpoint semester, test-taking strategies and strategically planning your study time.
How-To Guide: Note Taking Methods
Wednesday: March 18, 2020; 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
This workshop introduces students to several styles of the most effective notetaking methods.
Don't Strain Your Brain, Use the Study Cycle
Saturday: April 4, 2020; 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Students are introduced to the study cycle: a specific approach to studying used to increase both retention and depth of knowledge. Learn how to strategically and effectively manage your course material and study time so when test time comes, late night cram sessions can be avoided!
Bring Your A-Game: Making it Through Finals
