What is Academic Coaching?
Academic Coaching provides students with the opportunity to work in a virtual one-on-one setting with a staff member in the CAS to enhance their academic skills, gain confidence, and improve performance.
The Academic Coaching process (offered in fall, spring, and summer semesters) will assess the student's current situation and provide an atmosphere of collaboration to develop an individualized success plan. We work with students to develop metacognitive, critical thinking skills that can help to simplify the learning process and overcome academic obstacles.
Academic coaching is intended to increase a student's ability to become a more self-directed learner by identifying academic resources and learning strategies that best match the student's individual preference for processing information. We work in tandem with the tutoring staff to ensure students are adequately supported in their academic endeavors. Upon completion of the academic coaching process, students should see an improvement in their grades.
