In recent years, the focus of human resource professionals has shifted from the day-to-day operations (management) side of business to strategic leadership. They must understand the framework to help employees develop the skills, knowledge, and abilities to be effective at individual, team, and organizational levels.

To become an effective HR leader, the Human Resource Leadership concentration will prepare you to think strategically in areas such as employee training, employee career development, performance management and development, coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and high potential identification. Students will understand and practice identifying needs, designing, implementing, and evaluating programs to support these areas in engaging, creative, and innovative ways. The Human Resource Leadership program is approved by the Society for Human Resource Management.
