Traditional Readmission

If you are a returning student who has not been suspended, dismissed, or reviewed by the Readmission Appeal Committee, use this checklist to confirm your enrollment.

Reactivate and set up your Clayton State Student Account.

When you apply to Clayton State, you're given a student account with a Loch ID (alphanumeric username, such as jsmith1) and Laker ID  (9-digit number).

Your account is more than your student email address. It is your key to accessing campus resources, including the Digital University Campus Kiosk (DUCK), where you'll check your admissions application status, register for classes,  manage your financial aid file, and pay for tuition.

Reactivate Your Account

  • Head to Account Manager with your:

Loch ID: (alpha numeric username, such as jsmith1) 
Laker ID: (9-digit number)

Don't know your Loch ID or Laker ID? 
Email - Applicants receive an activation email with their student account information.
Text - If you provided your mobile phone number on your application, you can also  retrieve your Loch ID and Laker ID by texting the word "ID" to (678) 466-6038.

 

  • Select Activate Account.
  • Enter your Loch ID, Laker ID, and birthday.
  • Select proceed.
  • Create a new password and add security questions.

  • Head over to the SWAN to:
    • Sign in to the Digital University Campus Kiosk (DUCK) and update your contact information.
    • Sign in to your student Email (Outlook), and set up your preferences in Outlook settings.

  • Head over to the HUB's website to learn about how multi-factor authentication (MFA) keeps you safe, and download the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Resolve any remaining holds listed on your account in the DUCK. For example:

  1. Submit your final Official Transcripts in-person, by mail, or electronically.
    • You may mail or deliver your transcripts to:

  • If your previous school(s), college(s), or universities offer this service, they can submit your official transcripts to: transcripts@clayton.edu. If not, we currently accept electronic transcripts from E-Transcript providers such as:
    • eSCRIP
    • Clearinghouse
    • Parchment
  1. GEORGIA RESIDENTS - Submit your Verification of Lawful Presence (VOLP) to the Office of Admissions.  Complete the VOLP Submission Form or deliver your document in person to our physical address in Edgewater Hall. Your VOLP document is used to determine your classification for in-state or out-of-state tuition.

You must meet with your academic advisor every semester to register for classes. Advisors are an important connection between students and campus resources. They are here to help you graduate on time.

How to Register for Classes

Schedule academic support appointments.

Registered for classes? Now, plan ahead to meet your academic goals. Consider scheduling an appointment with the Center for Academic Success or Writer's Studio.

Complete your financial aid file (Submit FAFSA, Check Financial Aid status, etc.)

Students seeking federal financial aid, as well as a number of state financial aid programs including HOPE, must complete their Financial Aid file.

Pay tuition and fees.

After registering for your classes, confirm your enrollment by paying your tuition and fees in the DUCK. Visit the Bursar's website to

  • get information about current tuition and fee rates and instructions on how to pay your account balance.
  • use the tuition calculator to estimate how much you'll owe each semester.
  • learn more about payment options, including the Nelnet Payment Plans.

Get Your LakerCard.

The LakerCard is your student ID for Clayton State. You can also use your LakerCard for spending at vending machines and SmartPrint by depositing funds to your LakerBucks account.

You DO NOT NEED a new card if:

  • you still have a working LakerCard and it has an ID number beginning with 900.

You WILL NEED a new card if:

  • your card was lost, stolen, or damaged.
  • your card has an ID number that does not begin with 900.

If you need a new LakerCard, upload your photo to get started:

Note: Log in using your Loch ID and network password. You must be registered for classes to receive a new LakerCard.

Obtain a parking permit from Public Safety.

Visiting campus regularly?  Be sure to obtain a parking permit. All faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students must register their vehicle with Parking Services and obtain a permit to park on campus, including satellite locations such as CSU-Fayette.

Register your vehicle in person at the Parking Services window located on the second floor of Edgewater Hall or online. You will need the following info to register:

  • Name, Laker ID number;
  • Home address and telephone number;
  • Make, model, color, year of the vehicle;
  • License plate number and state; and
  • For residential students, location of campus residence;

Returning to college after some time off can be challenging. Before classes begin, get reacquainted with campus and student support services. Stay up-to-date with campus events and deadlines and get involved around campus. Plan ahead to stay in touch with your professors, advisors, and counselors.

Readmission After Appeal

If you are returning to Clayton State after receiving a final decision from the Readmission Appeal Committee, use this checklist to confirm your enrollment. Learn more

Satisfy these requirements to register for classes.

There are a few extra steps you must take to maintain your readmission status and register for classes. Satisfy all of the following:

Your First Semester Back

  • Financial Consultation
    Meet at least once
    with a financial aid advisor for a consultation at least 3-5 days prior to meeting with your academic advisor.

  • Registration Consultation
    Meet twice
    with your academic advisor. Schedule an appointment to build your class schedule and request to meet at least once more before the end of term.

  • Academic Consultation
    Meet twice
    with a CAS representative. Contact the Center for Academic Success (CAS). Schedule two appointments, one to obtain your LASSI and the Appeal Contract and another for tutoring or academic coaching.

  • Career Consultation
    Meet at least once with a career counselor. Schedule your first appointment within the first 2 weeks of the semester of your return.

Your First Semester Back and All Future Terms

  • Academic Standing Update
    You must contact the Registrar's Office to update your academic standing every semester until you return to good academic standing.

Note: Students are limited to 6-7 credit hours per term for the first two semesters after their return and must have a minimum of a 2.0 at midterm to register for the following semester.

Schedule remaining academic support appointments.

If you have not done so already, schedule your remaining appointments with the Center for Advising and Retention (CAR) and the Center for Academic Success (CAS). You must meet with a representative from the CAR and the CAS at least two times per semester.
