Laker Hall Suites

Laker Hall is Clayton State’s first year student residence hall! The suite-style layout gives each student a private bedroom to relax, study, or hang out with friends, while also providing opportunity to engage with suitemates with a suite common area and a shared bathroom. It’s your home away from home!

Paying for University Housing

Start your financial aid application process early! Students who anticipate having difficulties with college expenses, including housing costs, should contact the Office of Financial Aid for assistance in determining eligibility and applying for federal education grants and loans.

Important Note for Housing Students: All tuition and housing charges must be paid in full (or a payment plan in place) prior to residence hall move-in. Students with a balance due will not be permitted access to the residence hall/unit.

Living Learning Community

Pulse-Nursing | Laker Hall 3rd Floor B Wing

The Pulse Nursing Living Learning Community (LLC) is designed to help first year pre-nursing majors successfully transition into the nursing prerequisite curriculum. As part of the Pre-Nursing Living Learning Community, students will have opportunities to engage with fellow students and faculty, develop and apply their strengths, discover and invent new ideas, and achieve academically in the living-learning environment. 

Please note that students in the Pulse-Nursing LLC will take classes together.  

Barbershop Initiative | Laker Hall 3rd Floor C Wing

Male identified students are invited to participate and live in the Barbershop Initiative learning community. Modeled after the tradition of community barbershops, participants will engage in formal and informal learning. The goal of the Barbershop Initiative is to help ease the transition to college through engagement in academic skills enrichment and the introduction of student support services. Student will have access to adult and peer mentors and will focus on leadership development throughout the year.

Unidos Community | Laker Hall 3rd Floor C Wing

The Unidos Living Learning Community (LLC) is designed to support the academic, personal, and professional success of students who identify as Latino, or students interested in Latino culture. This LLC is an affiliate of the Latino Success Imitative and recognizes the unique challenges these students face and seeks to empower them through mentorship, dialogue, workshops, and other essential support systems. 

EmpowHER Initiative | Laker Hall 3rd Floor A Wing

Women Identified students are invited to participate and live in the EmpowHER Living Learning community. Members will engage in formal and informal learning in this community. The goal is to help ease the transition to college through engagement in academic skills enrichment and the introduction of student support services. Student will have access to adult and peer mentors and will focus on leadership development throughout the year.

Bridge Community | Laker Hall 3rd Floor A Wing

The Bridge to Clayton Living Learning Community (LLC) is designed to help first-year Bridge students successfully transition from high school to college. Members will engage in formal and informal learning in this community. The goal is to help ease the transition to college through engagement in academic skills enrichment and the introduction of student support services 

*If you are interested in joining a Living Learning Community, please complete your housing application and select your preference by July 1

*Please note that all LLC participants in Laker Hall are assigned to our regular 4-person suite. If you have requested a roommate group and an LLC, please note that your requested roommate must also apply for the same LLC and request you as a preferred roommate in order for you to be placed together.  All students who are selected to participate in the Unidos will be assigned to a regular 4-person suite on the Unidos hallway on the 3rd floor of Laker Hall.
