Veterans Affairs Benefit Types


Below is a brief description of each VA Education Benefit Type. By selecting the link associated with the desired VA Educational Benefit, you can view what is included in the selected benefits.


CHAPTER 30: MONTGOMERY GI BILL®: while on active duty, service member opted to pay contributions towards the GI Bill®. Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill® includes a monthly housing allowance paid according to the number of credit hours received. CHAPTER 1606: MONTGOMERY GI BILL®-RESERVES: Reservists actively drilling; 6 year obligation in Selected Reserves. Chapter 1606 Montgomery GI Bill® for Reserves include a monthly housing allowance paid according to the number of credit hours received. CHAPTER 35: SPOUSE/DEPENDENT EDUCATION ASSIST PROGRAM (DEA): Dependents/Spouse of veterans that are 100% service-connected disabled/deceased. FRY SCHOLARSHIP: Dependents of service members who died in the line of duty after September 10, 2001. Effective January 2015, The FRY Scholarship is also available for the surviving spouse. Please select the link to find out more information about this VA Education Benefit.


CHAPTER 31: VA VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION & EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (VR&E): Service-Connected disabled veterans with a rating of at least 10% or a memorandum rating of 20% or more. Please select the link to find out more information about this VA Education Benefit.


CHAPTER 33: POST 911 GI BILL®: Active Duty Service Member on or after September 11, 2011 or Spouse/Dependent of Service Member who transferred entitlement. Please select the link to find out more information about this VA Education Benefit.


CHAPTER 33: POST 911 GI BILL® & YELLOW RIBBON FUNDS: 100% eligibility for Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI BILL® Benefits, Charged out-of-state tuition and fee charges, and Clayton State University is considered your HOME Institution.
