Application Materials Checklist

View the list of available start terms and application deadlines. Please note that completed applications all required credentials must be submitted by the posted deadline.

General Admission Document Requirements

  • Online Graduate Application – There is a non-refundable $50 application fee:
  • Transcripts –For admission purposes, graduate enrollment services requires Official transcripts from the College and/or institution you received your undergraduate degree award. Must be in a sealed envelope from the institution or sent electronically from the institution directly to graduate@clayton.edu, which is the preferred method. If you graduated from Clayton State University, you do not need to request a copy of your degree award transcript.
  • Verification of Lawful Presence and immunization is only required if applicant matriculates. Immunization is exempt for the Master of Archival Studies, Master of Public Administration, Master of Business Administration (online only), Online Master of Science in Strategic Leadership and Development, and Online Master of Science in Supply Chain Analytics)

Documents can be submitted in the graduate application. Once the application is submitted, upload application documents with the Graduate Admissions Required Materials Submission Form, which is the preferred method, or mail to:

Programmatic Admission Document Requirements

**Program enrolls in the fall and spring**

1. Application Essay

The essay should be 750 to 1,000 words (approximately two to three pages, double spaced). It should be a well-organized narrative, not a sequence of questions and answers.  The ideas should be organized logically, building on each other, demonstrate your ability to write at the graduate level. It should cover the following: 

  • What is an archives?
    Consider the differences that distinguish archives from libraries, museums, and other cultural memory organizations.  Discuss the kinds of materials archives collect and how they differ from the what libraries and museums collect.  Explain the role archives serve within an organization, community, or society.  Describe how archives are changing in the digital era.
  • What does an archivist do?
    Consider the differences among archivists and other information professions, such as librarians, records managers, museum curators, and information technologists.  Distinguish an archivist’s work from that of a historian.  Describe tasks archivists perform when working with records, and the knowledge and skills do archivists need to perform those tasks.
  • What are your professional goals?
    Consider the kind of work do you want to do as an archivist and the types of archives you might work in.  Describe the kinds of activities do you see yourself doing five or ten years after graduating.

INTERNATIONAL Applicant additional requirements

**Program enrolls in the fall, spring, and summer**

Admission to the MAT program requires an earned baccalaureate degree in the respective concentration (or a closely related field which includes at least twenty-one (21) hours of coursework) from an accredited college or university.

All students interested in the mathematics concentration are expected to have the following undergraduate courses: Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and at least two (2) additional upper-division mathematics courses. Students who have not completed at least three (3) of these prerequisite courses will not be considered for admission into the program. Individuals without the required prerequisite courses are expected to complete undergraduate course work to compensate for any deficiencies.

  • Describe your past experiences working with diverse populations and how that might impact your work with a diverse student body.

Must submit a sample of at least two (2) five to ten (5-10) page upper division course writings (only for English concentration).

Statement of Purpose should be more than two (2) typewritten pages, single-spaced. The statement should describe the applicant's pertinent and professional experience and education, as well as their interests and goals in pursuing the Master of Science in Clinical/Counseling Psychology degree. 

2. GRE

GRE Required if undergraduate conferred degree award overall GPA is under a 3.0

3. Please provide 2 letters of Recommendation

Letters should comment on the applicant's potential for success in a graduate academic program. At least one letter should be from a previous professor or someone who can comment on the applicant's academic performance and/or ability

Transient

Transient applicants will need to request permission from their institution. The applicant will also need to ensure course descriptions match at both institutions. If granted permission to take course at Clayton State University, the applicant will need to apply as a non-degree seeking student.

Graduate Admissions will also require the following from their institution:

  1. An Official Transient Authorization letter or documentation from the Registrar of the college or university last attended, which includes the following:
    • A recommendation for transient admission to Clayton State University
    • A statement that the applicant is eligible to return
    • A list of recommended courses to be taken at Clayton State University
    • A signature from a college official in a sealed envelope from the institution is required
