This initiative provides a foundation for success through a variety of resources, events, and personalized support tailored to new students.
From orientation through the first year, New Student Programs focus on fostering connections, building essential academic and life skills, and helping students acclimate to campus life.

First Year Seminar - CSU 1000
The CSU 1000 First Year Seminar course is designed to introduce new students to the academic, social, and cultural community at Clayton State University. To help students adjust to college life and ensure their success, first-time traditional students enrolling in 9 or more semester hours are strongly encouraged to enroll in CSU 1000 First Year Seminar. It is recommended that students take this course during the Fall semester.

Freshman Premiere
Freshman Premier features a series of Weeks of Welcome events and activities designed to help new students transition and build a strong foundation to begin their college journey.
Alpha Lambda Delta
Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) is a national honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence among first-year students. To be eligible for membership at Clayton State University, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be a first-year student (full-time or part-time) at Clayton State University.
- Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher after completing their first semester.
- Be enrolled in a degree-seeking program at the university.
- Maintain good academic standing with the institution.

PULSE: Success in the Healthcare World PULSE explores the path to a healthcare career with fellow students passionate about medicine, nursing, dental hygiene, and health sciences. PULSE offers exposure to real-world medical settings, networking opportunities, and academic support.
Loche’d in Service: Lead through service, policy, and community impact Designed for students interested in government, public policy, social work, and nonprofit leadership, this LLC empowers you to make a difference through civic engagement and social change.
Campus Connections: Discover your path. Connect your purpose Students who may be unsure about their major or career direction. This LLC helps students explore their interests, build meaningful campus connections, and discover their passion through personalized support and involvement.

Admissions and Enrollment
Q: How can I check my admission status?
A: Log in to the new Clayton State admissions portal using the email address on your application. Follow instructions to sign in or reset your password.
Q: What should I do after being accepted?
A: Complete the following steps:
- Submit your Enrollment Confirmation.
- Complete the FAFSA for financial aid.
- Sign up for New Student Orientation.
- Submit proof of immunizations.
Q: Is Orientation Mandatory for all students?
A: Orientation is mandatory for all incoming students, except for those enrolled exclusively in online degree or certificate programs. All other students are required to attend.
Q: What is the Orientation Fee?
A: an $100 non-refundable Orientation fee. The Orientation fee cannot be waived.
Financial Aid and Tuition
Q: How do I apply for financial aid?
A: Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at studentaid.gov. Clayton State’s school code is 008976.
Q: When is tuition due
A: Tuition deadlines vary by semester. Check the Bursar’s Office webpage for specific dates.
Q: Does the university offer payment plans?
A: Yes, payment plans are available through the Student Accounts Office.

A: Yes, Laker Hall and Laker Village offer on-campus housing. Apply early as space is limited.
