Retirees
Retiring from Clayton State University closes out your journey at the institution and begins the next chapter of your relationship with us a lifetime member of the Laker family. Both Clayton State and the University System of Georgia offer retirees a number of resources to help them transition into retirement.
Procedures for Retiring
Employees are encouraged to contact the Benefits Specialist on the Human Resources Team to review their benefits when they near the age and service requirements to retire, even if they are not planning to retire. Retirement counseling gives the Benefits Specialist the opportunity to advise employees of relevant retirement benefits information, as well as the proper procedures for submitting written notice of their intention to retire.
Faculty - BOR policy requires that all tenured faculty members employed under written contract for the fiscal or academic year shall give at least sixty (60) days written notice of their intention to resign/retire. However, it is always appreciated if faculty members give more notice than the minimum sixty days.
Staff - It is the responsibility of the employee to notify the department of plans to retire in writing, preferably at least three months prior to the retirement date.
