Laker Wildlife Initiative Programs and Activities
Research
The Laker Wildlife Initiative is dedicated to advancing the field of wildlife crime and forensics through a multifaceted research agenda. Our commitment is reflected in the following core activities:
- Collaborative Research with the Wildlife Forensic Academy: In partnership with the Wildlife Forensic Academy (WFA), we are expanding and supporting the groundbreaking research already underway at the Academy. This collaboration allows us to leverage WFA’s expertise and resources while contributing new perspectives and projects from Clayton State University.
- Development and Evaluation of Training Tools: Together with the WFA, we are designing and refining innovative tools to assess the effectiveness of wildlife forensic training programs. By systematically evaluating training outcomes, we aim to ensure continuous improvement and the highest standards in wildlife crime investigation and conservation practice.
- Open Access Repository for Knowledge Sharing: We are committed to transparency and social justice in science. To that end, we are creating an open access repository that will house white papers, research outputs, and educational materials produced by the Laker Wildlife Initiative and our partners at WFA. This resource will make our work accessible to the global community, foster scientific inquiry and peer review, and accelerate the development and application of new knowledge in wildlife crime and conservation.
- White Papers: Advancing Wildlife Forensic Science: We lead the way in wildlife forensic science through the development of white papers—comprehensive resources that set standards, inform policy, and drive innovation. Read more.
Through these efforts, the Laker Wildlife Initiative seeks to drive innovation, support evidence-based policy, and empower practitioners, students, and communities to protect biodiversity and uphold justice.
