General Questions

The Community, Belonging & Veterans Center supports students by fostering a welcoming campus environment while providing specialized resources for military-affiliated students, veterans, dependents, and the broader Clayton State community.

The CBVC is located on the Clayton State University campus, Edgewater Hall, Rm 115 (next to the bookstore). Visit us during business hours or contact us for directions and office information.

The CBVC is open to all Clayton State University students. Specialized services are available for:

  • Veterans
  • Active-duty service members
  • National Guard members
  • Reservists
  • Military spouses
  • Military dependents
  • ROTC cadets
  • Faculty, staff, and students seeking military-related or daily resources

Military & Veteran Student Questions

Students using VA education benefits should contact the CBVC and submit all required documentation before each semester.

Eligible students may qualify for programs including:

  • Yellow Ribbon Program
  • Montgomery GI Bill®
  • Rudisill
  • Chapter 35 (DEA)

Yes. The CBVC can help explain available resources and connect you with the appropriate university office or VA representative.

Visit the CBVC as soon as possible. We'll help connect you with campus resources and explain the next steps for using your education benefits.

The CBVC can refer students to the appropriate campus office for disability accommodations and accessibility services.

Student Veterans of America (SVA)

SVA is the official student organization for military-affiliated students at Clayton State University.

Membership is open to:

  • Veterans
  • Active-duty service members
  • National Guard
  • Reservists
  • Military spouses
  • Military dependents
  • ROTC cadets
  • Military-affiliated students
  • Supportive faculty and staff

No. Membership is free.

Officer positions are announced as they become available. Students may submit an interest form when applications open. Check the Student Veterans of America Tab.

Events & Programming

Students can register through the CBVC or participate in community service opportunities advertised throughout the semester.

Yes. Many CBVC events welcome faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners.

Community Service

Many volunteer opportunities can be documented for service-learning or leadership recognition. Students should verify specific requirements with their academic department.

Volunteer opportunities are posted on the CBVC website and shared through email and social media.

Resources

Yes. We can direct students to military-affiliated scholarships, university scholarships, and Student Veterans of America scholarship opportunities.

Yes. We connect students with Career and Professional Development, internship opportunities, military-to-civilian career resources, and employer networking events.

Students may access campus counseling services, Vet Centers, Military OneSource, and other local and national support resources. Check the Hotlines tab for additional resources.

The CBVC can connect students with available campus and community resources for emergency assistance when eligible.

Graduation

Yes. The CBVC hosts a Military-Affiliated Scholar Celebration to recognize graduating military-connected students.

Yes. Family and guests are welcome to celebrate this special milestone.
