In December, the Clayton State Alumni Board, agreed to double the percentage of each membership gift that is donated to the Alumni Association Dream Maker Scholarship fund.

Each Annual Member of the Alumni Association will have $20 of their $35 membership gift designated for the scholarship, and each New Graduate Member will have $10 of their $20 membership gift designated for the scholarship. Additionally, the Alumni Board has agreed to provide an additional $1,000 from the Alumni Association to the scholarship fund.

“With many of our students feeling the effects of the recent downturn in the economy, more scholarships are needed to ensure each Clayton State student has every opportunity to make their dream of a college degree possible,” says Crystal Billingslea ‘11, President of the Clayton State Alumni Association.

To serve the local community, alumni supported food drives to collect non-perishable items for families in need.

Started in 2018, the Alumni Association Dream Maker Scholarship provides vital funding to Clayton State students facing financial circumstances that could keep them from continuing the pursuit of their degree. Since initiated, six different scholarships of at least $1,000 have been awarded to Clayton State students.

“Clayton State University has been fortunate to have alumni who are passionate about their alma mater and support it by being members of the Alumni Association,” notes Michael Little, Director of Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving. “Even in the face of COVID-19, we continue to provide a robust set of engaging programs for our alumni, and our alumni continue to support us, which allows the Alumni Association to provide these additional scholarships for our students. We are grateful for these alumni because providing more scholarships from our membership gifts will in no way impact our ability to continue to offer those events and opportunities.”
