Clayton State University Will Celebrate Commencement in May of 2026 at The Arena at Southlake

(March 23, 2026) - Clayton State University is proud to announce it has signed a contract to hold this year’s spring 2026 commencement ceremony in May at The Arena at Southlake, a new state-of-the-art, multi-purpose facility.  The arena is located adjacent to Southlake Mall in Morrow, Georgia.  

The facility offers seating for over 8,000 guests and can host a single large commencement ceremony for Clayton State University. Before this new venue became available, Clayton State traditionally held three commencement ceremonies over two days at the on-campus Athletics Center.  

“Hosting commencement at this new arena signals the continued rise of Clayton State University and reflects the strength of our partnership with Clayton County,” said Dr. Georj L. Lewis, president of Clayton State University. “As we grow and evolve, it is important that the student experience grows with us. This new, state-of-the-art facility allows us to deliver a more elevated, memorable commencement that truly reflects the caliber and momentum of our institution, while welcoming more families and loved ones to celebrate this important milestone.”   

 In addition to a large seating capacity, the new facility also features luxury suites, premium seating options, a rooftop terrace, and ample parking. For family members traveling from outside the area, the arena is conveniently located right off Interstate 75.  

Clayton State University is proud to start a new tradition of commencement in the heart of the community at a venue that will be the center of so many memorable events now and in the years to come.
