Celebrating the Clayton State University Class of 2025

(May 22, 2025) - Commencement is more than a ceremony — it’s a celebration of perseverance, purpose, and the promise of new beginnings. On May 9 and 10, Clayton State University proudly honored the graduating Class of 2025 in three moving ceremonies that marked the start of an exciting new chapter for hundreds of Laker scholars.

Joined by proud families, friends, and members of our faculty and staff, we recognized the hard-earned achievements of graduates from all walks of life. Each cap and gown in the crowd told a story — of late nights and early mornings, of personal sacrifice and triumph, of resilience and hope. Our graduates come from a range of backgrounds, many overcoming significant adversity to walk across the stage and claim their degree. They have proven that greatness is not defined by circumstance, but by determination and grit.

This year’s ceremonies were further elevated by three inspiring keynote speakers who exemplify leadership, service, and transformation:

State Representative Beth Camp, a proud Clayton State alumna, reminded us that passion and purpose often begin in unexpected places. From becoming a 911 dispatcher at age 17 to serving in the Georgia House of Representatives, Rep. Camp shared her journey of lifelong learning, public service, and the power of giving back.

Keith T. Parker, a visionary executive and trailblazer in public and nonprofit sectors, shared powerful insights on leading through change. As the former CEO of MARTA and current president and CEO of Goodwill of North Georgia, Parker spoke of turning obstacles into opportunities — a message our graduates are well prepared to carry forward.

Veronica Maldonado-Torres, President and CEO of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, brought a message of empowerment and innovation. Her work has redefined what’s possible for minority-owned businesses and stands as a testament to the impact of inclusive leadership and economic equity.

Adding a deeply personal and emotional layer to the ceremonies were our remarkable student speakers:

Jahedy Rojas, graduating with a Bachelor's in English and a Minor in Psychology, is a first-generation college graduate. With unwavering dedication — and the steadfast support of her mother and brother — Jahedy graduated Cum Laude, a true testament to resilience, family, and hard work.

Krushali Parekh, an international student from India, is receiving her master’s degree in Health Administration. As a first-generation graduate, her journey began oceans away and led to the commencement stage, where she proudly shared her story — inspiring others to dream across borders and believe in the impossible.

Angel Oshiokalame Aruna, earning a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, balanced life as a student and an Army ROTC cadet. His journey was shaped by leadership, service, and resilience, and his words reminded us all that with courage and conviction, we can rise to meet any challenge.

These graduates — and the entire Class of 2025 — are the heartbeat of Clayton State University. They are future leaders, innovators, healers, educators, and changemakers.

To our newest alumni: your time at Clayton State has prepared you to lead with courage, create with conviction, and contribute meaningfully to the world around you. Whether you're entering the workforce, advancing your education, or charting your own path, know that you are ready — and the world is waiting.

Congratulations, Class of 2025. Your future begins now.
