Check Out and Return Materials
A Clayton State issued LakerCard is required to check out materials. Return items to the nearest service desk or the exterior book returns near The Grind or the library courtyard entrance by the due date issued. Equipment and study room supplies need to be returned in person. Laptops circulate only from the Information Desk, upper level.
Borrowed items are automatically renewed twice by authorized users in good standing. If you have exceeded your renewals, you must bring the items back to the library to check it out again. In person renewals for equipment are permitted based on availability and course reserves are not renewable.
Collect Library Fees and Remove Holds
Replacement and processing fees are assessed when an overdue item has been declared lost by the library, an item has been declared lost by the user, or when an item is returned in a damaged condition. Library fees can be paid at the Information Desk. Former students and visitors can make payments online at the Bursar's website. If you have a Banner hold from your fee, let library staff know so it can be removed. See the Library Fees policy for more information.
GIL Express and Interlibrary Loan
If we don't have a book you need, you can request it from another library using either GIL Express which borrows from other Georgia universities or Interlibrary Loan which borrows from all library types. These items can be picked up and returned to the Information Desk.
If your professor put something on hold in the library for all their classes to use, it will be behind the Information Desk in the Course Reserves collection. These items have shorter loan periods so be sure to know when it's due back to avoid a fee.
The multimedia collection includes DVDs, videos, CDs, and audiobooks.
Provide Assistance in Locating Books
If you don't know how to locate books on the shelf, ask at the desk for assistance. You can also view this short video to learn how to read Library of Congress call numbers.
Keep Lost and Found Items
Did you forget your umbrella, flash drive, textbook, glasses, phone charger, etc. in the library? Don't worry, we keep these lost and found items for you at the desk for up to 30 days.
