Industry Outlook
IT careers can be found in a number of organizations including government, business, education, and healthcare.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 15 percent from 2021 to 2031, faster than the average for all occupations. These occupations are projected to add about 682,800 new jobs.
The median annual wage for computer and information technology occupations was $97,430 in September 2023. This is significantly higher than $45,760, the median salary of all other occupations.
