Move-In Information


Welcome to University Housing at Clayton State University!  We are excited to have you start or continue your collegiate journey here with us!
Please read the following information carefully so that you will be off to a smooth start upon arrival.

Room Assignment, Move-in Date, and Check-in
If you completed your housing application and contract by the Priority Deadline, your room assignment and suitemate information will be available through your housing portal no later than 2 weeks before your move-in date.  Please note that, while we make every effort to maintain current room and suitemate assignments, it is occasionally necessary to make adjustments based on the required accommodations of some students. 

Laker Hall Move-in Day: (refer to assigned times below)  

You MUST have a room assignment and class schedule in place and have your account balance paid in full (or a Nelnet Payment Plan in place for the remaining balance) in order to complete your room check-in processIMPORTANT FEE PAYMENT INFO

ARRIVE ON THE SCHEDULED MOVE-IN DAY and check in according to the first letter of your Last Name and the following schedule: 

A – F   move-in           8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

G – L   move-in           10:00 a.m.  – Noon

M – R move-in             Noon – 2:00 p.m.

S – Z    move-in           2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Check-in for Laker Hall is located in the Laker Hall main lobby.  You should first park in general parking and go through check-in, then you will be given approximately 20 minutes to unload in the rear traffic circle. Once you are finished unloading, you will be asked to move your car to the general parking area to accommodate other residents as they move in.  A limited number of dollies are available for checkout and use, however, it is recommended that you bring your own carts/handtrucks if you feel this is necessary.


Laker Village (formerly Clayton Station) Move-in Day:
(refer to assigned times below)

ARRIVE ON THE SCHEDULED MOVE-IN DAY according to the first letter of your Last Name and the following schedule: 

A – F   move-in           8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

G – L   move-in           10:00 a.m.  – Noon

M – R move-in             Noon – 2:00 p.m.

S – Z    move-in           2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Laker Village check-in is at the University Housing main office (at Laker Village).  To ease parking congestion around the main office, it is recommended you park near your building location and walk to the main office for check-in.  You will then proceed to your building and room location for load-in. It is recommended that you bring your own carts/handtrucks if you feel this is necessary.

Helpful tips for Move-In Day:

  1. Bring your Laker Card with you for verification to pick up your keys.
  2. Make sure all University fees are paid, as you will not be allowed to move in if there is a balance on your account (or if a Payment Plan is not in place, if applicable).

Building/Floor Meetings

All residents will be required to attend a mandatory floor meeting with their Resident Assistant (RA).  Refer to postings in your facility for your specific meeting date and time.

Room Condition Report (RCR)

At your time of check-in, you will be given a room condition report form.  This form documents the condition of your room at move-in. You will have the opportunity to review, amend, and then sign this form during the check-in process.

Personal Property/Liability Insurance

Please be reminded that University Housing is not responsible for any damage to your personal property or that which may be caused to the premises by you or a guest. If you are not already covered under a parent’s homeowner’s policy, you are strongly encouraged to obtain renter’s insurance to protect your personal property and, if necessary, provide emergency accommodations. Renters’ insurance is inexpensive and great protection to have!   Representatives from several insurance companies we be available on housing move-in days.
