Music Preparatory School

Programs Offered

Private music lessons with our professional instructors, Clayton State student-instructors, and Clayton State faculty are available to the community children of 6 y. o.–up and adults for a modest fee. We offer 30 minute, 45 minute, or 60 minute lessons in piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, lute, and ukulele. The goals and needs of students are considered individually when placed with our instructors.

Registration for private lessons is accepted throughout the semester based on an instructor’s availability.

The Clayton County Youth Orchestra for string players

The Clayton County Youth Orchestra is designed to offer a quality performance experience for area string players. Membership in the orchestra is open to string players with at least two years of experience who successfully pass the entrance audition. Rehearsals are on Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in room 150 of the Music Education Building. Free for students enrolled in Clayton County Public Schools, students from outside Clayton County and home schools may participate through Music Preparatory School registration. Registration is available here

For more information or to arrange an audition, contact Dr. Richard Bell, (678) 466-4745

Please note: Students who attend a school that has a school orchestra are required to enroll in that program as well. The Music Preparatory School Orchestra Project is not meant as a replacement for participation in school orchestras, but rather to complement these programs.
