CMS majors must pass a writing assessment in order to enroll in required upper division classes (e.g., CMS 3101, CMS 3020). Students are encouraged to take the exam during the semester when they are enrolled in CMS 2010 and CMS 2100.
In the exam, students are given a prompt related to communication and media. They have two hours to compose a persuasive essay in response to the prompt. Answers are anonymously reviewed by two CMS faculty members, and scored according to the same rubric that is used in first-year English classes at Clayton State.
Fall semester 2019 the writing assessment is being offered at the following days/times:
- October 1, 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM
- October 2, 10:00 AM
- November 8, 10:00 AM
Call the Testing Center 678-466-4495 to make an appointment. The Testing center is located on the East Campus at 5823 Trammell Road, Arbor Hall, Room 121.
