Sustainability Efforts

Welcome to the Student Activities Center!

The Student Activities Center supports Clayton State University's sustainability efforts through design and operational choices such as a LEED design concepts and timing systems for the facility's lighting system.

The SAC also uses environmentally friendly cleaning products and was one of two buildings on campus selected in 2011 to pilot the University's Single Stream Recycling program.

Single stream recycling allows participants in these buildings to co-mingle all their recyclables into single containers for collection, processing and remarketing.

Acceptable Recyclable Items:

  • Plastic Containers (grades 1-7)
  • Aluminum and Steel Cans
  • Glass (all colors)
  • Mixed Office Paper
  • Paperboard
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Cardboard (flattened)
  • Newspaper, magazines, phone books

Items not accepted for recycling (at this time):

  • Food waste and containers
  • Used tissues
  • Used paper towels
  • Plastic bags
  • Styrofoam
  • Light bulbs
  • Batteries
  • Film
  • Magnets
