Open Records Request

All written requests should be made by sending an email to the designated Open Records Act Officer at openrecords@clayton.edu.

Police reports are public records subject to the Georgia Open Records Act (O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71.2); however, not all records are subject to release. Data may be subject to redaction in accordance with federal and state confidentiality statutes. In accordance with Institute policy and procedures, all requests received and processed by the Clayton State University Department of Public Safety are reviewed and distributed by the Open Records Officer.

Please allow at least three (3) business days from the date of the incident to make your request. If the records exist but are not immediately available for production, we will provide a description of the records and a time and/or cost estimate for their release. The Open Records Officer will provide an answer to the request on or within three (3) business days after receiving the request form, excluding state holidays and emergency closures.

Request a copy of a police report about your incident or accident

To receive a copy of your police report you will need to complete a Report Request form. Once you complete the form, you can deliver the form to the Department of Public Safety or email the form to parkingservices@clayton.edu.

Please allow at least five (5) business days from the date of the incident to make your request. Reports will be delivered in accordance with the indicated method; pickup or email.
