New Nursing Appointments for Betty Lane and Victoria Foster
Upon the recommendation of Dr. Betty Lane, College of Health Dean Dr. Lisa Eichelberger has appointed Dr. Victoria Foster as interim director of the MSN program. Foster will fill Lane’s vacated MSN director position while she serves as interim chair of the School of Nursing. Both appointments are effective July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
Monthly Payroll Reminder
Notice to all employees and managers/supervisors:
ADP E-time approvals of all monthly time must be approved by 6 p.m., Monday May 20 for the payroll ending on May 31, 2013.
Any monthly time taken after approval on May 20 will need to be reported on the monthly record of leave form located on the payroll web site listed below.

Pizza Hut and SubConnection Open Monday, May 20
Pizza Hut and SubConnection will open Monday, May 20, for service during the summer semester. Summer hours of operation are:
- Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (breakfast biscuits, 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m.)
- Friday: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. (breakfast biscuits, 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.)
- Monday-Thursday: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Friday: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Loch Shop Hours During Summer Book Rush
The Loch Shop will be opened for extended hours for Summer Book Rush. The hours are as follows:
Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May, 21; 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Wednesday, May 22; 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
The Loch Shop will resume normal summer hours on Thursday, May 23. Summer hours are: Monday through Thursday – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Also, Book Money is now Bookstore Bucks and is available from May 15 through May 22 in The Loch Shop and online.
2013 Capital Asset Inventory Listing Due, May 24
The 2013 Capital Asset Inventory Listing of assets that are valued at $3,000 or more is due to Micah Grant (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Friday, May 24.
This annual inventory is done to ensure compliance with the University and DOAS guidelines. Individuals who have in the past had these assets under their control or supervision should have received an inventory list email attachment and instructions from Grant in regards to compliance with this matter.

Butterfly Garden Dedication, May 31
The Clayton State Retirees Association (CSRA) will dedicate the Butterfly Garden to the University on Friday, May 31 at 10 a.m.
President Hynes, members of the Facilities Management staff, and CSRA retirees will be present for the dedication, to be held between the Baker Center and Swan Lake. Interested faculty and staff are welcome to attend. A bronze plaque will be placed in the garden during a brief dedication ceremony.
Recreation & Wellness and Wellness Council to Host 60 in 60 Challenge, Beginning June 1
The Department of Recreation & Wellness and the Wellness Council will host the “60 in 60 Challenge” beginning June 1 through July 30.
The challenge is set to encourage participation in daily physical activity based on American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) physical activity guidelines, therefore, supporting the overall well-being of Clayton State University employees. Participating employees are challenged to complete 60 total miles in the 60 day time period and are encouraged to utilize a number of different modalities such as running, walking, biking, swimming, and cardio machines to log mileage. Mileage is self-reported and does not need to be completed in the SAC Fitness Center to qualify.
All challenge participants will receive a FREE body fat/circumference assessment per and post-challenge. The employee completing the most miles in 60 days will receive a prize pack from the Department of Recreation & Wellness and will be recognized in Campus Review and Faculty & Staff Laker Lines. All individuals completing the 60 mile goal will also be recognized in the Faculty & Staff Laker Lines. Updates on the 60 in 60 Challenge will be posted on the Wellness Council Facebook page at www.facebook.com/csuwellnesscouncil.

SBDC Offering "Understanding Workplace Contracts" Class, June 14
The Clayton State University Small Business Development Center (SBDC), partnering with the College of Business at Clayton State, will be offering an “Understanding Workplace Contracts” class on Friday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, in room T152 of the College of Business.
The class will be taught by Clayton State Business Law Professor Dr. Judith Ogden.
This program, designed to guide small businesses through the maze of contract concerns, will address many contract related issues; such as whether a worker is an independent contractor or an employee, whether you created a contract by writing a handbook or company policy, and whether employees should be made to sign non-compete or confidentiality agreements.

Bursar’s Office Year-End Cutoff, June 27
The 2013 fiscal year-end is fast approaching we are required by the Georgia Board of Regents to freeze the Banner System tables on June 30, 2013.
All departmental deposits are due to the Bursar’s office by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2012. Any deposits received after June 27, 2013 will post to fiscal year 2014. The Banner System will shut down on Friday, June 28 at noon. Banner will be up and operational for FY14 on Monday July 1, 2013.

Eighth Annual New Student Convocation Scheduled for Aug. 9
Clayton State University’s Eighth Annual New Student Convocation is scheduled to take place on Friday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Spivey Hall.
This year’s keynote address will be provided by Clayton State’s president, Dr. Thomas Hynes, Jr. The ceremony’s purpose is to inspire, motivate and formally welcome new students into the university community. Clayton State faculty and staff who participate in the procession portion of the ceremony are kindly requested to wear their academic regalia. Last year’s ceremony had its largest attendance for new students, faculty and staff.

Clayton State Athletics Readies for Kickoff of Summer Camps
In less than a month, the Clayton State Department of Athletics will kick-off its 2013 Summer athletic camp schedule.
The first series of camps will begin the week of June 3-7 and all camps are held on the campus of Clayton State University. The department offers athletic camps for boys and girls in the following sports: soccer, basketball, tennis and speed development.
The week-long camps are offered to youth ages six-to-17 years-old and run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Half-day camps are also available either in the morning or in the afternoon. Campers may also choose to combine two different half-day camps if they wish.
Cost of the full-day camp is $125 and for a half-day is $65. To register online or print out a registration form, please visit Clayton State Athletics Summer Camps.
Clayton State’s athletic camps are designed to provide the highest quality instruction in a safe, fun, and socially-enriching environment, and to help campers’ dreams be made real. The primary goal is for all campers to enjoy themselves while also learning and improving their skills.
Daily activities are led by Clayton State head coaches and focus on character building aspects of each individual sport, including self-esteem, discipline and responsibility. The camps combine small group instruction as well as game play to ensure development of fundamental skills and game knowledge. Openings Still Available for Spivey Hall’s Fifth Annual Summer Music Camp
Clayton State University’s Spivey Hall has a handful of spots remaining for this year’s Summer Music Camp… a rare opportunity for young singers to make their dreams real and perform on the stage of the world-famous Spivey Hall.
The camp will run from Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., each day. Registration is now open and the deadline to register is Monday, June 3.
Spivey Hall’s Summer Music Camp is designed for both boys and girls who will be in fourth to seventh grade in the 2013/2014 school year. Participation is not limited to previous choral experience; however, students need to be able to sing on pitch (in tune) before camp begins. Teacher recommendations are required.
Students will receive a comprehensive music experience while working with music specialists Craig Hurley and Marcena Kinney, and will feature choral singing, guitar instruction, class piano, playing Orff instruments and tone chimes, folk dancing, and performing in Spivey Hall. Summer Music Camp will be located at Spivey Hall, on the campus of Clayton State. Some activities will take place in the Music Education Building. All participants will check in and out from Spivey Hall each day of camp.
The cost to attend Summer Music Camp is $150 per student, due in full before the registration deadline of Monday, June 3. New members of the Spivey Hall Young Artists program can register for a reduced rate of $125. Discounts are available for families registering multiple students. A late registration fee of $175 per student will be accepted after June 3 on a space-available basis. Checks may be made payable to Clayton State University and mailed to Spivey Hall with the registration form, payment form, waiver, and music teacher’s recommendation. Call for Presenters: Freshman Premiere II Orientation
The Office of Orientation & New Student Programs is looking for faculty, staff, and student organizations to present during our Freshman Premiere II extended orientation program.
Freshman Premiere II is part two of the freshman students’ orientation program. During this time the freshman students participate in move-in at Laker Hall, New Student Convocation, and A Party for Good. This year’s program will allow for freshman students who participated in Freshman Premiere I during the summer to experience workshops that provide information that will assist them in their transition from high school to Clayton State.
