Biweekly Payroll Reminder
Notice to all employees and managers/supervisors: biweekly timecards must be approved in the ADP system by6p.m., Friday, June 7, for the payroll ending on June 7, 2013.

SBDC to Hold Free Financing Sources for Small Businesses Workshop, June 10 The Clayton State University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will be offering a free workshop on “Financing Sources for Small Businesses” on Monday, June 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Clayton State – East, 5823 Trammell Rd., Morrow. Although this workshop exploring financing programs and sources to grow your business is free, registration is required. Happy Fiscal New Year Party, July 1 The Clayton State Development Office is having a lunch on Monday, July 1 to celebrate a successful year. The “Happy Fiscal New Year” party will be held in the Commons Area of the James M. Baker University Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and will feature a special ice cream sundae bar, sponsored by Auxiliary Services. Important Announcements from the LakerCard Center
LakerCard Online and LakerCard Mobile will be offline for maintenance on Monday, June 10 from noon to 5 p.m. If you need to make a deposit to your LakerCard, please use one of the three AMC machines located on campus or stop by the LakerCard Center.
Beginning in August, the LakerCard Center will no longer accept credit cards for LakerBucks deposits in the office. You may still use credit cards for LakerBucks deposits in the AMC machines, at LakerCard Online and with the LakerCard Mobile App.
Also beginning in August, the minimum deposit amount required for a LakerBucks deposit made with cash or check will be $1. Credit card deposit minimums will remain $5.

Outdoor Adventure – Rock Climbing, June 8
Join Outdoor Adventure on a rock climbing trip to North Georgia. This trip will have routes for beginners as well as advanced climbers. All climbing gear will be provided. Sign up at the front desk of the SAC.

Laker Angels Meeting and Elections, June 11
On Tuesday, June 11, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Laker Angels will be having their annual elections for officers. The meeting will be held in room 215 of the Music Education Building.
The meeting will also include a pot luck luncheon. All faculty and staff are invited.
Lunch will start at noon. Food for the potluck lunch can be dropped off after 8 a.m. on June 11 to Delores Toothaker in the music building. Please send what you plan to bring to the potluck to Toothaker via e-mail. Please remember that we will need paper goods and drinks.
Nominations will be taken from the floor and the vote will be held at 12:30 p.m. Send nominations for positions to the election committee, Diana Johnson and Latrice Barlow.
The positions up for election are; president, vice president, treasurer and two voting members. The Laker Angels are looking forward to a great turn out to cast votes and help make the following year a better year for the Laker Angels.
SBDC Offering "Understanding Workplace Contracts" Class, June 14
The Clayton State University Small Business Development Center (SBDC), partnering with the College of Business at Clayton State, will be offering an “Understanding Workplace Contracts” class on Friday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to noon, in room T152 of the College of Business.
The class will be taught by Clayton State Business Law Professor Dr. Judith Ogden.
This program, designed to guide small businesses through the maze of contract concerns, will address many contract related issues; such as whether a worker is an independent contractor or an employee, whether you created a contract by writing a handbook or company policy, and whether employees should be made to sign non-compete or confidentiality agreements.

SBDC to Hold Starting Your Business Workshop, June 18
The Clayton State University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will be holding a “Starting Your Business Workshop” on Tuesday, June 18, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., in room 139 of the Natural and Behavioral Sciences Building.
If you are considering starting a small business, and want to make your dream real, this workshop is a crucial first step. Since lack of planning is one of the top reasons new businesses fail, attending this comprehensive workshop is one of the most important decisions to make prior to opening a business. A detailed business start-up book, "How to Start a Business: A Guide for Georgia Entrepreneurs," and other handouts are provided.
The cost of the workshop is $69 per person, with a 50 percent discount for current Clayton State students, faculty and staff, who should contact Heather Chaney for discount code. Also, there is 50 percent off each additional person who registers with an individual when the first person pays the full fee of $69 (discounts cannot be combined).

Bursar’s Office Year-End Cutoff, June 27
The 2013 fiscal year-end is fast approaching we are required by the Georgia Board of Regents to freeze the Banner System tables on June 30, 2013.
All departmental deposits are due to the Bursar’s office by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Any deposits received after June 27, 2013 will post to fiscal year 2014. The Banner System will shut down on Friday, June 28 at noon. Banner will be up and operational for FY14 on Monday July 1, 2013.

Eighth Annual New Student Convocation Scheduled for Aug. 9
Clayton State University’s Eighth Annual New Student Convocation is scheduled to take place on Friday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Spivey Hall.
This year’s keynote address will be provided by Clayton State’s president, Dr. Thomas Hynes, Jr. The ceremony’s purpose is to inspire, motivate and formally welcome new students into the university community. Clayton State faculty and staff who participate in the procession portion of the ceremony are kindly requested to wear their academic regalia. Last year’s ceremony had its largest attendance for new students, faculty and staff.
