Clayton State University Workplace Survey
Clayton State University has been nominated as one of Atlanta’s Top Workplaces
. Each year the Atlanta Journal-Constitution recognizes the Top 100 Workplaces in Atlanta. As a part of the program, all of our employees will be receiving an invitation to participate in survey conducted by Workplace Dynamics. These surveys will include a link, username and password for you to use in participating in the survey.
We really need everyone to participate. The results of our participation in the survey will determine our inclusion in this prestigious program for 2012. The deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Financial Aid’s Hand Truck is Missing
Please help locate the Financial Aid Department hand truck. If you borrowed the hand truck, that is fine. Please return it to Financial Aid on the first floor of the Student Center at your earliest convenience.
In preparation for the spring 2012 semester, GeorgiaVIEW will undergo an extended maintenance from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 22. During this time GeorgiaVIEW will be unavailable.
University Relations Sponsored Fall Photo Contest
University Relations is sponsoring a fall photography contest! Please submit your “Best Clayton State Fall Photo.” All photo submissions must be on campus. Photo subjects may include Clayton State faculty, staff, students, or campus scenery. All photos must be submitted by midnight Jan. 13, 2012. No more than two submissions per person, per day.

College of Business Ribbon Cutting and Signage Unveiling, Jan. 9
The College of Business invites faculty, staff and students to the ribbon cutting and signage unveiling ceremony announcing the renaming of the College of Business. The ceremony will be held on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 on the landing of the College of Business. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony.

SBDC Hosting Starting a Business Workshop, Jan. 10
The Small Business Development Center will be hosting a “Starting a Business” workshop, a comprehensive workshop on important decisions you make prior to opening a business. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the main building at Clayton State — East.
PowerPoint handouts and a book, “How to Start a Business: A Guide for Georgia Entrepreneurs” will be provided.

Annual Martin Luther King (MLK), Jr. Celebration, Jan. 16 to Jan. 19
Theme: “His Dream, Your Vision”
The Department of Campus Life will coordinate the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, Jan. 16 to Jan. 19, 2012, in collaboration with AmeriCorps and Diversity Education Experiences for Peers (D.E.E.P.) Educators to commemorate the life of Dr. King. This year’s theme is “His Dream, Your Vision” will include a Day of Service and MLK Rally and March in Atlanta, MLK Rally at Forest Park High School and the MLK Showcase.
Of special note, this year’s celebration will feature an Essay Contest that is open to all high school students at Forest Park High School, Jonesboro High School, Morrow High School, and Mt. Zion High School. Participants will write an essay reflecting on the theme and focus on how Dr. King’s dream has influenced them personally, civically, and educationally. Students with the top three essay submissions will be acknowledged at the MLK Showcase on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Name of Event: MLK Day of Service - A Day On Not A Day Off

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'" Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities. Clayton State students will have the opportunity to volunteer at several sites in Atlanta, Georgia through Hands On Atlanta. Upon completion of the service projects, students will participate in the Annual MLK Rally & March at 12:00 p.m. along Peachtree and Baker Street in Downtown Atlanta. Transportation will be provided for 50 participants.

Location: Forest Park High School
Campus Life along with AmeriCorps and Diversity Education Experiences for Peers Educators will sponsor a rally at Forest Park High to educate students about Dr. King’s dream, vision, and life.
Wednesday, Jan. 18
Name of Event: “His Dream, Your Vision” MLK Showcase
Time: 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Location: Spivey Hall
Clayton State students will showcase their interpretation of Dr. King’s dream, vision, and life through song, dance, or poetry. Additionally, finalists from the MLK High School Essay Contest will read their award-winning pieces. Free Admission and open to the public.

Name of Event: AmeriCorps’ Service Cinema – Viewing: The Human Experience
Time: 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Location: SAC Ballroom C
In a world fraught with hostility and violence, an altruistic group of young men endeavor to understand the true essence of the human spirit by visiting forgotten souls such as homeless New Yorkers, Peruvian orphans and isolated Ghanian lepers.
