Dr. Rodger Bates, professor of sociology, and Dr. Bryan LaBrecque, assistant professor in the BAS Program, published an article in the recent issue of the Online Journal of Distance Learning Administration. The article, titled "Distance Learning: A Game Changer," focuses on the growing role of distance learning opportunities for student and professional athletes.This article was recognized at the recent Distance Learning Administration Conference at Jekyll Island with a Best Paper Award.
Dr. Melanie Poudevigne, director of Health and Fitness Management, and Dr. Harry Chung, assistant professor in Health and Fitness Management, successfully achieved national accreditation of our Health and Fitness Management program. This now means that all the College of Health programs eligible for accreditation are nationally accredited.
Dr. Gordon Baker, Dean of Libraries, was recently elected to a two-year term as Director-At-Large of the Beta Phi Mu International Library Honor Society at its annual meeting in Chicago on June 24, 2017. Beta Phi Mu was founded in 1948 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It was established to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement among library and information studies student. Beta Phi Mu is an affiliate of the American Library Association. Baker is a member of the Beta Beta Mu chapter at Valdosta State University.
