Dr. Susan Tusing, chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Clayton State University, will serve as 2011-2013 Piano Division Chair for the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA).
GMEA is a state affiliate of the Music Educators National Conference (MENC) and is a comprehensive statewide organization serving the needs of music educators and advocating for quality music education at all levels.
GMEA is one of only a handful of MENC state affiliates that supports a Piano Division; the GMEA Piano Division provides performance and competition opportunities throughout the year for middle-school through college-age pianists and performance- and pedagogy-related workshops for piano teachers and college piano students during the GMEA In-Service Conference held each January in Savannah.
Tusing has presented sessions at the GMEA In-Service Conference in 2008 and 2010, and has had two piano pedagogy articles published in Georgia Music News, GMEA’s journal. A frequent adjudicator for various state and regional piano events, she has also served as college faculty forum chair and theory chair for Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA) and is currently serving as GMTA awards chair. Previously, she served as second vice president of Arkansas Music Teachers Association.
