Clayton State University Bookstore Manager R. Todd Smith recently achieved the designation of Certified Collegiate Retailer (CCR) through the National Association of College Stores (NCAS). The CCR designation indicates skillful leadership, stewardship, and expertise in college store operations.
According to Assistant Professor of History Dr. Randall Gooden, chair of the Clayton State University Bookstore Advisory Committee, there are only 96 certified retailers in the country, and Smith is the only one in Georgia.
According to the NACS website, “achieving the CCR designation demonstrates to your colleagues, your campus community, and yourself that you possess the necessary knowledge to successfully manage a college store and effectively provide expertise on collegiate retailing issues. It shows that you are among the leaders setting the tone and direction for the college store industry.”
In addition to their career experience in collegiate retailing, CCR candidates must also successfully complete a comprehensive examination that tests their fundamental knowledge of all areas of the collegiate retailing profession and their ability to apply that knowledge.
Smith’s CCR designation is effective from Apr. 1, 2011 through Dec. 31, 2014.
