The Clayton State Office of Auxiliary Services will be celebrating the opening and re-naming of the University Bookstore in August.
Currently located in the James M. Baker University Center while its former location in the Student Center is being renovated and enlarged, the bookstore will be returning “home” for a grand opening at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9. At the same time, the Bookstore’s new name, (a closely-guarded secret until Aug. 9), which was chosen during the “Rename the Bookstore Contest” last spring, will be unveiled. The ceremony will also feature punch and cookies, special sales and giveaways, and discounts on new merchandise.
The bookstore has undergone a complete renovation during the summer, and has expanded from 3654 square feet of retail space to 5756 square feet.
“(This) will better enable us to serve our customers by providing more selection of the things our students need for their academic success, and more things they want for their collegiate lifestyle,” says University Bookstore Manager Todd Smith. “Our used book, rental book, and e-book programs have also been expanded for fall, which will assist our student customers in saving money on their course materials.
“We have added two additional registers to help keep the lines moving swiftly. We will also offer a study nook with seating.”
From Monday, Aug. 15 (the first day of classes for the fall 2011 semester) to Tuesday, Aug. 23, Auxiliary Services will hold a Grand Opening Celebration of the newly-renamed store, featuring special discounts and giveaways.
