IEP Guidelines & Policies
Admission & Level Placement
The IEP offers in-person instruction on its main campus to international students who meet the admissions standards for financial ability (documentation of USD $15,000 or its foreign equivalency) to sustain educational and living support expenses for the duration of up to one academic year.
This requirement will not apply to those students with U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident status.
Furthermore, official transcripts (in English) from the most recent school attended/graduated from must be presented at the time of application.
If a student under the age of eighteen (18) is seeking entry into CSU’s IEP, CSU Presidential approval must be granted.
All full-time IEP students must present a proof of existing insurance form or will have the option to purchase student insurance through CSU.
Lastly, as the IEP exists to improve the English fluency of prospective students, a minimum English language proficiency test (TOEFL, IELTS) score is not required, but prospective IEP students will be administered an in-house English Language Placement Test (ELPT) aligned with the IEP’s curriculum standards. This ELPT will be used to place prospective students in the correct level of study within the IEP.
Tuition Payment & Refund
All tuition and accompanying fees must be paid by or on the first day of class. Any payments made after this date will accrue a late fee of $75.00.
If an IEP student experiences extenuating circumstances forcing their withdrawal from the IEP program, refunds will be remitted under the following schedule:

Attendance & Participation
All IEP students are expected to diligently attend and participate in their classes. Attendance and participation make up 20% of all IEP course final grades. In order for students to continue enrollment within CSU’s IEP, attendance policies must be followed. All IEP students are required to attend at least 80% of all instructional clock hours per class in a given eight-week session. Full-time IEP students are allowed no more than (6) absences, (24) instructional hours total per eight week session for full time students, while (3) absences for M/W/F class sections, or (3) total instructional hours for part-time or provisionally admitted IEP students will be permitted. Furthermore, IEP students are expected and required to arrive to class on time and prepared to learn. An IEP student arriving to class 15 minutes after the start of class is considered to be tardy, and an IEP student leaving 15 minutes before the end of class will have an early departure counted against them.

If an IEP student is absent due to circumstances beyond their control such as illness, accident, or death in the family, their instructor must be notified at once and an excused absence may be observed along with make-up work being accepted with instructor or IEP Coordinator approval.
Failure to adhere to the attendance and participation policies is grounds for attendance probation and/or dismissal from the IEP program.
Grading Policy/Level Advancement
Students are given a grade in each course they take within the IEP. The grading scale for the IEP is as follows:
A = 90 to 100 B = 80 to 89 C = 70 to 79 D = 60 to 69 F = 60 and below
To be considered for advancement from one level of study to the next, students are expected to finish each eight-week session with a grade of 70% or higher on a scale of 100.
Upon total completion of the IEP’s six levels after forty-eight (48) weeks of study, students will be issued a certificate of completion documenting their English language proficiency level, and will then be eligible for admission into CSU’s credit hour courses of study.
