Peer Financial Counseling and Planning Program

What is PFCP?

Our mission is to provide our peers with a basic understanding of personal financial management to help them take charge and make wiser decisions when it comes to the different challenges of life and opportunities, many of which touch upon the topic of money. Many students come to college very ill-equipped to handle their personal finances. Clayton State’s Peer Financial Counseling and Planning (PFCP) program is designed to address this problem.


PFCP Topics

Getting Started We will discuss what is money, where it comes from, and how it works. The basic skills and tools you’ll need to manage your finances and reach your goals. How to keep track of your money and protect yourself financially.

Spending Smart Spend smart with helpful tips to make the most of your money. Learn how to take control of your finances with your own spending plan. Learn to be a savvy shopper - whether it's everyday purchases, a cell phone, a car, or an apartment.

All About Credit Credit affects many parts of your life. Come learn how credit works, how it can benefit you, and risk to watch out for. Essential info about credit cards, loans, how to build credit, your credit score and credit report. Learn to avoid (or deal with) the problem of too much debt.

School and Money By investing in yourself with higher education, you can increase your earning power! Learn how to find the money you'll need. The basic of savings plans, grants, scholarships, work-study and loans. Loaded with money management tips!
