About the Professor

I am excited to meet you all and work with you as a faculty member in the Department of Healthcare Management.  I am located in Clayton Hall T-122. My office number is 678-466-4567. Office hours are posted on the website as well as the course syllabus. We all have something to offer to the courses and I certainly want each one of you to be fully engaged.  Below is just a little about me and we will get to know each other during our courses.

Brief Background/Philosophy:

I am a Public Health Consultant Pharmacist . I did undergraduate work in Microbiology, graduate work in Public Health and completed my Doctor of Pharmacy degree so I have been a student in many settings and many years of my life as well. I understand that achieving your academic accomplishments are important. Because of that, I'm hoping to bring a unique perspective to your studies and definitely looking forward to us learning from each other. In general,  I believe that the cornerstone of a functional healthcare system revolves around the ability of healthcare professionals to understand collaborative care in terms of their interactions, goals for outcomes and also ethical issues that are present when advocating for patients. Whether it is a pharmacist looking at issues of  medication safety and compliance and health literacy, a nurse focused on educating a patient, financial implications for the hospital concerns for the administrator or the chronic disease management issues for the physician, it takes all professionals to move in the direction of building healthy communities.

I look forward to discussing my background and yours during our courses together.

It's exciting to be a part of your journey!

Location and Meeting

Please refer to your schedule for course location and times.

If you are having problems with the course, come to see me right away. Students often make the mistake of waiting too long to ask for advice or help.   Remember that after mid-term finding solutions may be much more difficult. I care. If I can't help to solve your problem, I might be able to refer you to another source of assistance.

There are many resources available to you. Please use ALL of the sources that are at your fingertips and beyond. Be diligent in looking things up and remember to always attempt to think outside of your normal box.

Students are required to attend class on the appropriate class day to ensure participation and full engagement in the course. Students are allowed 2 absences. Any additional absences will result in a 2 point deduction from the final grade per absence. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the student to make sure that any missed assignment or course discussion is completed by due dates within the course syllabus.

Syllabi and Course Info.

All course information is provided on the first day of class. It is very important that you attend class the first day/night. If you are not able to make it that day/night, you should email me prior to that class to let me know as a courtesy but also because attendance is checked and you want to ensure that you are present so that you are not dropped for non-attendance.
