Dr. Lane is the Dean of Assessment and Instructional Development at Clayton State University and an Associate Professor of Instructional Design and Technology in the College of Information and Mathematical Science. Her administrative responsibilities at Clayton State include overseeing the operations of the Center for Instructional Development, serving at SACS Liaison, coordinating Comprehensive Program Review, and leading the University's assessment activities. Prior to joining Clayton State, she was a Senior Research Associate and Program Manager at Penn State's Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence and an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Instructional Systems at Penn State. She holds a D.Ed. in Instructional Systems from the Pennsylvania State University. She has served as project manager for multiple large-scale curriculum reform projects in disciplines such as business, statistics, engineering, and information sciences and technology.

Dr. Lane proposed and developed the initial design for the transformation of Penn State's introductory statistics course, a project funded through the Pew Foundation’s Learning and Technology Program sponsored by the Center for Academic Transformation. She is currently a co-principal investigator and outside advisory board member on an NSF STEP grant to study the effects of curricular changes and support programs on increasing minority and other under-represented populations in science and engineering. She recently served as co-principal investigator on a NSF CCLI-EMD Proof of Concept grant to restructure and assess changes to two statistics courses at Penn State and has overseen the assessment and evaluation of an NSF CCLI-EMD Proof of Concept grant to restructure Engineering Mechanics at Penn State.

Over the past 13 years, Dr. Lane consulted and collaborated with faculty members to transform their courses into student-centered learning environments. Prior to becoming the Director of Clayton State's Center for Instructional Development, she supported the work of Penn State’s Coordinating Committee on University Assessment by traveling to various campuses and conducting workshops on program and general education assessment for faculty. Dr. Lane has co-authored several papers on the effects of changes to the teaching and learning process. She has conducted numerous workshops and presentations on problem-based learning, inquiry-based learning, and student-centered learning for university faculty and at professional conferences. In 2002, she was an invited workshop presenter at the PBL International Conference in Baltimore, MD and served as a reviewer for Samford University’s Problem-Based Learning-Peer Review Course Portfolio Project. In 2007, she was an invited keynote speaker at the International Conference on Foreign Language Teaching and Learning in Kaoshiung, Taiwan and an invited workshop presenter at Asia University in Taichung County, Taiwan.

Dr. Lane is currently an Associate Professor of Instructional Design and Technology at Clayton State University. While at Penn State, Dr. Lane was a member of the graduate faculty and held an affiliate appointment within the Department of Learning and Performance Systems at Penn State from 2002 until 2008. Additionally, she served on eleven dissertation committees (3 as thesis advisor and co-director) and taught graduate courses in the Instructional Systems Program.

Dr. Lane is currently the President of the International Society for Exploring Teaching and Learning (ISETL) and is past-chair of the Conference Committee. She is also a member of the American Educational Research Association, the Association for Educational Computing and Technology, and serves on the International Advisory Board of the International Higher Education Teaching and Learning Association.
