The Clayton County Youth Orchestra is partnering with the Music Preparatory School!
The Clayton County Youth Orchestra is designed to offer a quality performance experience for area string players. Membership in the orchestra is open to string players with at least two years of experience who successfully pass the entrance audition. Rehearsals are on Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in room 150 of the Music Education Building. Free for students enrolled in Clayton County Public Schools, students from outside Clayton County and home schools may participate through Music Preparatory School registration. For more information or to arrange an audition, contact Dr. Richard Bell, (678) firstname.lastname@example.org.
This program is open to beginning and intermediate violin, viola, cello, double bass, voice, and piano students. Select Clayton State University music majors teach students of all ages in weekly private lessons to prepare them for participation in local youth and community orchestras or for personal enrichment.
Please note: Students who attend a school that has a school orchestra are required to enroll in that program as well. The Music Preparatory School Orchestra Project is not meant as a replacement for participation in school orchestras, but rather to complement these programs.
Private music lessons and classes with our faculty of professional musicians are available to the community for a modest fee in the Music Preparatory School. Additional instruction may be provided by selected undergraduate university music students under the direct supervision of Clayton State University Division of Music faculty. Piano, violin, voice, brass, and other instruments are available by request. All instruction takes place in the Music Education Building, adjacent to beautiful Spivey Hall, on the campus of Clayton State University. We welcome adults and children age 6 and up.
