Student Honor Workshops
The Spivey Hall Student Choral and Instrumental Workshops began in October 1994 under the artistic direction of the legendary conductor Robert Shaw. These intensive, multi-day programs serve metro-Atlanta educators and their most capable students by providing them with the opportunity to work with renowned choral and instrumental clinicians.
The workshops expand students’ knowledge of a variety of repertoire, develop their music-reading skills, and enhance their technical abilities. The Spivey Hall Honor Workshops seek not only to give young people the rare opportunity to perform in a world-class concert hall but also to develop their talents through music and interaction with other dedicated students.
PRE-NOMINATION FOR FALL WORKSHOPS AVAILABLE!
HERE’S HOW THIS TIME SAVER WORKS
Prenominating does not obligate you or your students to participate in the 2018 Spivey Hall Honor Workshops nor does it guarantee that your students will be chosen to participate. It only indicates your interest, identifies possible participants early, and will help you expedite the registration process in the fall 2018. No deposit is necessary.
You will be contacted in early August and asked to confirm your recommendations, make additions (inclusive of incoming 6th graders) or changes based on student interest and availability (they must commit fully to all required rehearsals at that time). Pre-nomination ends June 29, 2018.
Participants must be talented musicians, well-behaved students, and available for every rehearsal in its entirety (TBC in the fall 2017).
That’s all there is to it. Click Workshop Titles below to pre-nominate your students today!
Students must be nominated by a music educator to participate. Nomination does not guarantee participation. Accepted participants must commit to the full schedule listed in the workshop details.
Choral and instrumental teachers from surrounding middle and high schools are also invited to observe the guest clinicians as they work with the students, with the option to earn professional learning credit at the same time. The Spivey Hall Honor Workshops seek not only to give young people the rare opportunity to perform in a world-class concert hall but also to develop their talents through music and interaction with other dedicated students.
Nominating educators may opt for school-pay (you pay with one check or credit card for all of the nominated students) or individual-pay (students and their families pay their registration fee separately.) Nominating teachers are copied on All acceptance and registration correspondence.
