Presented by Franklin Pond Chamber Music, the First Annual Memorial Day Weekend Awards Concert invites music lovers statewide to enjoy an afternoon of chamber music performed by award-winning young Georgia musicians alongside internationally renowned professionals. Featuring NPR From the Top host Christopher O’Riley, the concert takes place Sunday May 28, 2017, 4 p.m. in Spivey Hall at Clayton State University. The concert is the finale event of the Franklin Pond Chamber Music Competition, the first and only competition of its kind in the Southeast.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION: The mission of the Franklin Pond Chamber Music Competition is to grow the cultural profile of Atlanta to cultivate and enhance interest in chamber music in the state of Georgia. Through coaching and preparing for the competition, groups of young musicians in grades 6 through 12 will gain a strong sense of accomplishment, enhance their solo and orchestra playing, and develop a love of chamber music that will last a lifetime. Competition judges include Christopher O'Riley, host of NPR’s “From the Top”, Sergiu Schwartz of the Schwob School of Music in Columbus, GA, and Bruce Uchimura of Western Michigan University.
