ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Talented music educators, Alan Morrison’, whose concerts are fan-favorites of Spivey Hall audiences, is joined by fellow Atlanta favorite son, Chris Martin.
Alan Morrison is recognized as one of America's premies concert organists and enjoys a versatile career as organist, teacher, recording artist, adjudicator and pianist/chamber musician. His concert performances throughout North America, South America, Europe and Russia have all been received with enthusiastic praise for his quality programming, colorful use of the organ and interpretive integrity. Alan Morrison is the head of the organ department at the world renowned conservatory, The Curtis Institute of Music, where he holds the Haas Charitable Trust Chair in Organ Studies and is Organist-in-Residence at Spivey Hall where he holds the McGehee Family Organist Residency.
Joining him is another Atlanta native, trumpeter Christopher Martin, whose “gleaming tone and firmly pointed yet expressively nuanced playing has provided innumerable memorable moments”; he is praised for his “expressive subtlety, astounding agility, and bold tempered tone” (The Classical Review). Having served in principal positions with the major orchestras of Philadelphia, Atlanta and Chicago, Martin is presently principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE: Discover the King of Instruments. The visual centerpiece of Spivey’s breathtaking design is the Albert Schweitzer Memorial Organ, a 79-rank, 3-manual, 4,413-pipe organ, built and installed by the firm of Fratelli Ruffatti. Mr. Morrison is a master of this instrument and a talented music educator. Joined by the brilliant Chris Martin, this is a rare musical pairing that shouldn't be missed!
