Q – Is there someone who can show me how to use all the machines?
A – Yes. We have student fitness assistants on the floor most hours of the day. Individual appointments may be scheduled with the assistance of the front desk receptionist. We also have individual fitness assessments available for a reasonable fee.
Q – Why is a T-shirt with sleeves required inside the Fitness Center?
A – There are many reasons but the main reason is to decrease the transmission of contagious skin conditions between people. Further, minimizing sweat on the upholstery increases the longevity.
Q – Why is an ID required to enter the Fitness Center?
A – An ID is required to protect the interest of all those who have paid to use the facility. In other words, each student pays $75 per semester which goes toward the bond note on the facility. Additionally, as a safety precaution, we require that ID’s be presented and verified at the desk.
Q – What is the period of time that students can use the Fitness Center during the semester?
A – A semester starts the first official day of classes and ends at the start of the next semester.
Q – Can I bring a guest to the Fitness Center?
A – Yes. One guest is permitted per member and the member must be present with the guest for the duration of their visit. The guest fee is $7.
Q – Do you offer free trial memberships to the Fitness Center?
A – Employees are permitted one free week as a trial with authorization from the Director of Recreation & Wellness. No trial memberships are permitted to the public.
Q – Are you open to the public?
A – Yes. We have a limited number of memberships available to the public. Please contact the front desk for more information.
Q – Can students reserve the dance studio for personal use?
A – Studio reservations can be arranged through the Director of Recreation & Wellness as long as certain criteria are met.
Q – If a student elects not to go to school for a semester, can the student still access the Fitness Center?
A – Yes. A student may be the $75 at the front desk of the SAC. This offer only applies for one semester. In other words, this arrangement would not be permitted for two consecutive semesters.
Q – Is it possible to join the Fitness Center at a reduced rate and only attend the Group Exercise classes?
A – No. Since there is no way to limit where patrons go once inside the Fitness Center, we cannot permit this.
Q – Do you loan any equipment?
A – Yes. We have a limited amount of equipment that may be checked out at the front desk of the SAC, This includes tennis racquets, soccer balls, basketballs, discs, and jump ropes. Please inquire at the front desk for the latest information.
Q – Are students allowed to have their family members join the Fitness Center?
A – Yes. As long as the currently enrolled student and the family member reside in the same household, any immediate family member 16 years of age or older may join the Fitness Center at the student rate. This is only permitted on a monthly or semester basis. No annual memberships are permitted.
Q – Do you have Personal Trainers?
A – No. We have degreed professionals on site during regular business hours who can answer your questions and assist you. For those who would like some individual exercise prescription, a fitness assessment is available for a reasonable fee.
Q – Do you have a Nutritionist who can help me with a diet?
A – Yes. Members of the Fitness Center can contact our contracted Registered Dietitian for a reasonable fee. The dietitian will meet with you on campus and assist you with your dietary and/or weight loss program. All appointments are made directly through the dietitian and payment is made to the same.
Q – Do you have Massage Therapy?
A – Yes. We have access to an independent massage therapist who is certified and licensed to perform massage therapist. Appointments are made directly through the massage therapists and payment is made to the same.
