I.              Unit Mission Statement

The School of Technology currently offers programs at the certificate, associate of applied science, and baccalaureate levels (BS and BAS).

II.       Statement of Long-Range Goals (3-5 years)

Goal 1:    To explore new programs at the baccalaureate level.
This goal supports the strategic planning theme of “Expand Academic Programs.” Based on feedback from advisory committee members, employers, and community leaders, SoT will continue to evolve and mature by adding appropriate baccalaureate degree programs. Sources of funding will need to be secured as new programs are proposed and approved by the appropriate governing bodies.

Goal 2:    To continue to expand online instruction.
This goal supports the strategic planning themes of “Technology Enhanced Programs and Services,” “Quality of Instruction,” and “Enrollment Management.” Many of the courses in the SoT inventory require “hands on” activities, simulations, and instructional innovations. The SoT faculty members are working to develop instructional techniques to facilitate more online courses.

Goal 3:    To continue to search for and secure grants.
This goal supports the strategic planning themes of “Financial Stability Aimed at Prosperity,” “Quality of Programs,” and “Image/Marketing/Advertising.” These grants from DTAE -- Matching Grants, Tech Prep, Perkins Funds -- and other sources within state and federal agencies will be used to provide assistance to specific populations, to assist in advising and directing students to appropriate programs, to support efforts for recruitment of traditional students in addition to part time adults, and to provide support for retaining currently enrolled students.

Goal 4: To recruit new students for existing programs.
This goal supports Strategic Planning Themes “Enrollment Management,” Financial Stability Aimed at Prosperity,” and “Technology Enhanced Programs and Services.”
