II.                Statement of Long-Range Goals (3-5 years)

·         Explore the expansion of a program of study in Supply Chain Management and Finance

Strategic Planning Theme #1 - Expand Academic Programs: The School plans to develop academic programming to meet student and needs of employers in the Southern Crescent/metro Atlanta. The plan is to expand the current concentrations in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Finance into  minors. The anticipated timeline for this is fall 2006.  The School also plans to explore the feasibility of other minors.

·         Build support for the School and the University from within the community

Strategic Planning Theme #2 - Financial Stability Aimed at Prosperity: The School plans to continue its efforts to build financial and non-financial support from within the community. Support would be sought to aid the fulfillment of the mission of the School. Under development is a formal on-going plan to communicate with external constituents.

·         Enhance retention and graduation rates among business majors

Strategic Planning Themes # 4 & 7 - Enrollment Management & Student Life: It is our belief that student retention and graduation rates are influenced by quality of student, student satisfaction with programs and services, and a sense of connectivity a student feels with the School/University. Based on these beliefs, the School has incorporated separate admission requirements to the School, added career planning to the list of student services provided by the School, and is helping enhance the activities of students clubs and honor societies within the School (ongoing). The School of Business is currently devising processes for identifying and working with at risk students. The School is also, developing marketing and recruiting programs targeted toward both traditional and non-traditional students (2004-06).  Starting in fall 2005, the School plans to initiate an alumni/faculty/staff mentoring program for business students.

·         Achieve AACSB Accreditation

Strategic Planning Themes # 2, 3, 4 & 5 - Quality of Instruction, Image/Marketing/Advertising, Enrollment Management, & Financial Stability Aimed at Prosperity: The Accreditation Plan of the School provides a road map to enhancing the quality of instruction by improving faculty and instructional resources, the curriculum, and the quality of students. Achievement of accreditation provides the School with the image of providing high quality education in business that is shared by top 25% of business schools in the nation. An image that would attract more and better student, increase student and faculty retention, enhance career placement, attract greater resources from community. All business schools in metro Atlanta are AACSB accredited or pursing AACSB Accreditation. The anticipated timeline for achieving AACSB accreditation this is spring 2006 (see attached Accreditation Plan).

·         Enhance Student Learning.

Strategic Planning Theme #3-Quality of Instruction.  Establish faculty development program focused on Active Learning.  Assess student learning using direct and indirect methods and utilize results to achieve continuous improvements.  These programs are underway and will continue for foreseeable future.
