I.     Unit Mission Statement

The OITS mission is to provide Clayton State University students, faculty, and staff with courteous and timely quality technology support.  Our mission is directly addressed in Clayton State University’s core mission and three of the five thematic elements of the campus strategic plan.

 

II.    Statement of Long-Range Goals

1.        Provide in and out of classroom support for faculty as they use technology in the teaching and learning process.

2.        Provide support for administrative applications by working with departments on campus and the Office of Information and Instructional Technology (OIIT) at the University System Office (USO).

3.        Reduce Clayton State University’s dependence on the Georgia Technology Authority for telecommunications.  This could reduce costs to the institution and provide a better quality of service to the campus.

4.        Continue to identify and implement technologies that will enable departments on campus to access and use technologies without having to wait for OITS staff to do it for them.

5.        Continue to identify and implement technologies that will reduce costs and increase efficiencies.

6.        Provide a trained and effective helpdesk staff that is responsive to the students, faculty and staff.

7.        Keep the staff of Student Software Support Services up to date with technology to enable them to provide quality services for our students.

8.        Provide a sustainable and secure campus computer network

III.   Statement of Objectives for FY 08

Clayton State Strategic Planning Priorities OITS Strategic Goals
1 Student Success.  The success of students is the highest priority of Clayton State University. The University provides students with necessary learning resources, creates a student-centered environment, and reduces barriers to student progression.  We are committed to recruiting highly qualified students, retaining and graduating them in a timely manner, ensuring that they are well-prepared to achieve personal and professional goals and be ethical and productive citizens.
1.1 Installation of Banner Luminis Portal and interfaces to Banner and other information systems.
1.2 Installation of Astra Platinum Classroom Scheduling System with interfaces to Banner Degree Audit (CAAP).
1.3 Provide the University with marketing assistance to target new populations of students using new technologies in printing, media, and communications.  
1.4 Continued Evolution of Clayton State's Notebook University Program.
1.5 Continued Audio Visual and Smart Classroom Upgrades.
1.6 Continued refinement of network and server design to provide resilient, reliable and failover services
2 Positioning.  Clayton State University is an outstanding comprehensive metropolitan university that transforms the lives of students, advances knowledge, and drives economic growth.  Our marketing and public relations efforts position the University as an institution especially qualified to achieve these results.
2.1 Installation of Banner Luminis Portal and interfaces to Banner and other information systems.
2.2 Continued Evolution of Clayton State's Notebook University Program for faculty and students.
3 Development and Enhancement of Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Programs. The University continues to develop high quality undergraduate and graduate programs to meet increasing student and societal needs.  This includes adding traditional and innovative programs at undergraduate and graduate levels, improving existing programs, and continuing to be a leader in the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning.
3.1 Installation of Banner Luminis Portal and interfaces to Banner and other information systems.
3.2 Continued Evolution of Clayton State's Notebook University Program for faculty and students.
3.3 Continued Audio Visual and Smart Classroom Upgrades.
4 Resource Development, Acquisition, and Management.  The University will increase its ability to acquire and develop resources. Additional funding, facilities, and technology are necessary to enhance student success, deliver and expand academic programs, and recruit outstanding faculty and staff. 
4.1 Installation of Banner Luminis Portal and interfaces to Banner and other information systems.
4.2 Continued enhancement and support of mission critical student, financial, and ancillary systems to enable Clayton State to grow efficiently and effectively. 
4.3 Installation of a backup emergency generator for Clayton's telephone, network and mission critical systems to ensure the necessary health, safety, and business continuity of the University.
4.4 Continued refinement of network and server design to provide resilient, reliable and failover services
5 Campus Life. The University will strengthen services and programs to provide a stronger sense of community for students, faculty, and staff.  Programs will focus on building community through intellectual, cultural, and social development.
5.1 Installation of Banner Luminis Portal and interfaces to Banner and other information systems.
5.2 Continued Evolution of Clayton State's Notebook University Program to include on-campus housing.
6 Outreach and Economic Development.  As an institution committed to its broader community, Clayton State University seeks to develop partnerships with the community, create civic-minded students, and promote economic development.
6.1 Installation of Banner Luminis Portal and interfaces to Banner and other information systems.
6.2 Provide access to Clayton State information systems from off campus sites in the community.
