|
Initial cost estimates have already been
prepared to update the library facility through new furniture,
carpet, paint, lighting, and technology improvements. This update
will allow the library to better support the growing number of new
programs and students, provide more effective instructional and
study space, and provide a more attractive facility that will
improve the university image and improve recruitment and retention. |
Continued planning within the Provost’s office
as well as collaboration with Fiscal Affairs and Facilities Management.
Significant fiscal resources will be needed to implement this
objective. |
Securing fiscal resources for project. Faculty
and student feedback. Improved retention and recruitment. |
|
Add Systems – Information Technology Librarian
position. |
SP I, III, VI |
The library manages a number of significant
computer and technology systems including an Oracle based integrated
automation system, numerous computerized data retrieval systems, as
well as its web page which offers seamless access to its resources
and services. Management of these disparate systems is spread out
over a number of library personnel, all of whom have other primary
responsibilities. Our peer institutions have one or more positions
devoted solely to managing library systems. Adding such a position
would allow existing personnel to focus on meeting and enhancing
their primary responsibilities and it would allow for expanding the
accessibility of the library’s computerized resources. |
This position would result from new funding. |
Student and faculty satisfaction with an
increase in computerized resources and the improved accessibility of
existing resources. |
|
Continue development of archives. |
SP I, V, VIII |
Continue to develop policies and procedures.
Initiate and develop contacts with those who have archival items
(key individuals, campus offices, etc.) Promote archives on and off
campus. |
Will need official designation as University
Archives. Will need additional fiscal resources for archival
processing supplies, additional shelving, and appropriate
technology. |
Increase in archival holdings. Increased
awareness of archives. |
