I.          Unit Mission Statement

The Honors Program at Clayton State University is designed to help academically talented students get a step ahead in developing academic and leadership skills. Honors Program students are selected as entering freshmen, and they enroll in a “cluster” of special enriched sections of Core Curriculum courses such as Critical Thinking and American Government.  A limited number of students may be admitted following the first semester of their freshman year as space allows.

II.       Statement of Long-Range Goals (3-5 years)

  • Expand honors course opportunities to the upper-division level.

  • Obtain additional external funding to broaden the scope of the program through additional scholarship and related support.  As the size of the student body increases, the Honors Program should grow proportionally

  • Establish a physical office space and dedicated clerical support for the Honors Program.

  • Build stronger ties with the schools and college.
