In honor of academic excellence, Clayton State University will be honoring its top students at the annual Academic Honors Convocation on Thursday, Apr. 16. The Convocation will be held in Spivey Hall, starting at noon.
Foremost among the honorees will be graduating senior business major Rachel Mannor, who has been named the University’s Academic Recognition Day Representative, an honor that advances her to potential statewide recognition later this year by the University System of Georgia.
An Illinois native and Fayetteville resident, Mannor is a non-traditional student at Clayton State. She is married and currently works at Pratt Industries as an intern in the Accounts Receivable Department. She is also working towards the extra courses that her 150 hour Certified Public Account license requires. Her ultimate goal is to be a CPA partner or to work for the SEC.
For fun, she explains she has a Hobby Farm where she and her husband raise chickens as well as five sheep. She also likes spending time with her pets and taking pictures.
“My main goal in college is to be successful. I also want to be an example for other students,” she says. “I have found that receiving an education is very rewarding, and no matter a person's age, it's never too late to go back to school. Learning is a life-long process.”
