Xavier Smith is currently a Human Resource Coordinator for Owens Corning, a local fortune 500 company here in Atlanta. In May 2014, he was selected one out of ten in the nation to attend the University of North Carolina: Charlotte Organizational Science Summer Institutes.
In late 2014, he was awarded the HR Excellence Scholarship by the National Association African Americans Human Resources (NAAAHR). In 2015, Xavier attended the 67th Labor Employment Relations Association Conference hosted by Cornell University Industrial Labor Relations School. There he co-presented a paper that he co-authored with his professor Dr. Leon Prieto. The paper entitled “Frances Perkins, Rose Schneiderman, and the Early Labor Movement: A Feminist Ethic of Care Approach to Labor & Safety Reform” won both the best competitive paper, as well as published in the Journal of Management History.
Xavier holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology & Human Services. Today he remains active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the National Association of African Americans in Human Resource (NAAAHR).
