NACADA Honors FYARC and DeLandra Hunter

NACADA, the Global Community for Academic Advising, has selected FYARC (First Year Advising and Retention Center) Director DeLandra Hunter as the winner of the 2015 Outstanding Advising Program Award.

As a NACADA Outstanding Advising Program winner, Hunter and FYARC will be honored at the special Awards Ceremony and Reception being held at the annual NACADA Conference in Las Vegas this fall as part of the 2015 Annual Awards Program for Academic Advising.

Established in 1983, the NACADA Annual Awards Program for Academic Advising honors individuals and institutions making significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising. NACADA is a representative and advocate of academic advising and those providing that service to higher education.

NACADA has more than 10,000 members and hosts its annual conference each fall, attracting more than 3,000 attendees, as well as 10 Regional Conferences. The association also conducts an intensive study of advising through various other events held throughout the year.

NACADA publishes a scholarly Journal, a quarterly e-Publication, and occasional special publications. NACADA offers an advising training video, manages an Academic Advising Consultants and Speakers Service, offers member career services, funds research grants, sponsors an awards program, grants scholarships, and supports commissions to address important academic advising issues. Most of all, NACADA provides a network and professional identity for the thousands of faculty, full-time advisors, and administrators whose responsibilities include academic advising.
