You’re Invited to the 2013 PEI SEBA Final Presentation, June 21
The College of Business is offering its annual Summer Entrepreneurship and Business Academy (SEBA) for high school students from June 17 to June 21. Sponsored by PEI, SEBA is a week-long, overnight academy with business classes, guest speakers, tours, team building, an etiquette luncheon, and many other activities aimed at preparing students for life after high school and beyond.
Clayton State Business Professor Dr. Beverly Wright, director of the SEBA program, is inviting all interested parties to attend the final presentation for this year’s talented group of academy students from schools in Clayton, Henry, Fayette and DeKalb counties. The presentation, held before a panel of judges, will be on Friday, June 21, running from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., in room 322 of the James M. Baker University Center on Clayton State’s main campus. Attending will be a group of parents, principals, community and business leaders, and the primary sponsor, PEI.

Building Naming Committee Solicits Input from the University Community
Creative minds are needed! It is common knowledge that a few of our campus building share common wording which creates confusion for our students and visitors. As such, the Building Naming Committee is seeking input from the University community to rename the Student Center, the Athletics & Fitness Center, and the Student Activities Center.
Submissions should be sent by the July 10 deadline to any of the following committee members; Cindy Lauer (co-chair), Jim Braun (co-chair), Kelly Adams, Dolores Cox, Mike Mead, Nicole Harris and R.B. Rosenburg.

ADP E-time approvals of all monthly time must be approved by 6 p.m., Thursday June 20 for the payroll ending on June 30, 2013.
Any monthly time taken after approval on June 20 will need to be reported on the monthly record of leave form located on the payroll web site listed below.

In your role as Assistant Director of Recreation and Wellness (Intramural and Club Sports) at Clayton State, you are responsible for leading the Intramural program staff consisting of approximately 10 student officials/scorekeepers. You have been on campus for a month and just gone through your on-boarding for the department at Clayton State. Your leagues start and you begin to realize that your student workers have a lack of commitment to the program and there is not much comradeship within the group. The officials express concerns about
· “I only get paid minimum wage, why should I even try to do anything extra?”
· “All I have to do is clock-in, do my job, and clock-out. That’s it.”
Discuss the steps you would take to create a culture of ‘buy-in’ among Clayton State Intramural Sports Officials and how those actions speak to your values, your advising style, and your understanding of Intramural sports in the context of campus recreation.
Bursar’s Office Year-End Cutoff, June 27
The 2013 fiscal year-end is fast approaching we are required by the Georgia Board of Regents to freeze the Banner System tables on June 30, 2013.
All departmental deposits are due to the Bursar’s office by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Any deposits received after June 27, 2013 will post to fiscal year 2014. The Banner System will shut down on Friday, June 28 at noon. Banner will be up and operational for FY14 on Monday July 1, 2013.

Loch Shop Closed, June 27, June 28
The Loch Shop will be closed June 27 and June 28 for end of the year inventory. Blue books, Scantrons and pencils will be available for purchase in the LakerCard office on those days. The Loch Shop will return to normal summer operating hours Monday, July 1 at 8 a.m.
Happy Fiscal New Year Party, July 1
The Clayton State Development Office is having a lunch on Monday, July 1 to celebrate a successful year.
The “Happy Fiscal New Year” party will be held in the Commons Area of the James M. Baker University Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and will feature a special ice cream sundae bar, sponsored by Auxiliary Services.

“It's Time to Finish Your Dream at Clayton State,” Degree Completion Event, July 9
Clayton State University, the place where dreams are made real, is offering individuals with college credits but no college degree a chance to learn more about how to make their own dreams real.
On Tuesday, July 9, Clayton State will hold a special Degree Completion Event, “It’s Time to Finish Your Dream,” with the goal of providing information and on-site services to those in the community who have already earned college credit and are now ready to finish their college degree.
“It’s Time to Finish Your Dream” will run continuously between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., on “Main Street” on the second floor of the James M. Baker University Center. Interested individuals can drop in at any time between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., without needing a reservation, to learn more about degree completion and to receive assistance from representatives of the University’s Recruitment and Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar (be sure to bring your previous college transcripts so the Registrar’s Office can give you a quick evaluation), Testing Center, Center for Academic Success and Academic Advising offices. Refreshments will be provided.

School of Graduate Studies Open House, July 9
The Clayton State University School of Graduate Studies will be holding its next informational Open House on Tuesday, July 9, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., in room 101 in the Harry S. Downs Center. Individuals are not required to register for this event.
The Open House will give prospective graduate students a chance to learn more about the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (concentrations in English, Criminology, History, Political Science and Liberal Arts), Master of Arts in Teaching English, Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics, Master of Education with a major in Teacher Leadership, Master of Business Administration (concentrations in Accounting, International Business, and Supply Chain Management), Master of Health Administration, Master of Science in Nursing (concentrations in Education and Leadership), Master of Archival Studies and Master of Science in Psychology (concentrations in Applied Developmental and Clinical).
Clayton State to Host International Economics Conference, July 25 to July 29
The Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics (SABE), the International Association for Research in Economics & Psychology (IAREP), and the International Confederation for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics and Economic Psychology (ICABEEP) will hold their next international interdisciplinary conference at Clayton State from July 25 to July 29, 2013.
This conference is the largest gathering of scholars with interest in Economic Psychology and Behavioral Economics.

Eighth Annual New Student Convocation Scheduled for Aug. 9
Clayton State University’s Eighth Annual New Student Convocation is scheduled to take place on Friday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Spivey Hall.
This year’s keynote address will be provided by Clayton State’s president, Dr. Thomas Hynes, Jr. The ceremony’s purpose is to inspire, motivate and formally welcome new students into the university community. Clayton State faculty and staff who participate in the procession portion of the ceremony are kindly requested to wear their academic regalia. Last year’s ceremony had its largest attendance for new students, faculty and staff.

New Parking Permits Available Soon
The 2013-2014 academic year parking permits will soon be available for pick up.
As usual, Public Safety will issue blue permits to faculty and staff. However, please note the following changes for student parking permits:
We will be issuing gold permits to those students who reside in Laker Hall and green permits to students who reside at Clayton Station. All other students will receive orange permits.
All vehicles bearing gold, green, and orange permits may park in any
student designated parking areas until advised otherwise.
The Bent Tree is Looking for Submissions for its Freshman Edition
The Bent Tree will be putting together its first-ever freshman edition for the incoming class of freshman this fall.
The Bent Tree “Freshman Exclusive” will be distributed to the new freshman in Laker Hall during Freshman Premiere Week. This edition of the paper will focus on the things incoming freshman need to know: the services offered to students on campus; things to do on campus; and will highlight some important dates for students in the first few weeks of the semester.
The Bent Tree would like to invite all campus departments, offices, and services to send in their articles, photos, calendars and advertisements for this special new edition of the paper.

OITS Introduces LochBox
LochBox (https://lochbox.clayton.edu) is the successor to “mydocs.clayton.edu.” It is a completely homegrown application developed by Clayton State employees for Clayton State employees and students. Just click the link above and give it a whirl.
The goal of LochBox is to provide easy access for Clayton State employees and students to their data as well as share that data just as easily. If you were a mydocs.clayton.edu user, you should remember the _Shared folder. With mydocs.clayton.edu, you could only share content located in the _Shared folder. LochBox changes that. You can share just about any folder within your home folder (H: drive). In addition, when a user shares a folder with you, you should see it in your _SharedWithMe folder.
The LochBox site has a number of “how-to” videos that will guide you. Please let Roger Poore know if you have any questions or run into any problems with LochBox.

Zombies Needed for "Welcome to the Bubs"
Recent Clayton State graduate Anissa Matlock is organizing auditions for an indie film called "Welcome to the Bubs," a zombie/apocalypse comedy.
Matlock is inquiring of Clayton State students, faculty and staff who may be interested in casting as a zombie – they’ll need nearly 100 of the walking dead.
There is no “dead” line to sign-up and all types of zombies are needed. There will also be some "hero zombies" that will have direct interaction with the main cast.
They must be willing to wear latex applications and a good bit of fake blood. They should be comfortable with stage combat, and must attend ALL rehearsals as they will be getting killed with blunt objects, rather than being shot from a distance and will need to practice with the cast.
There is an official registry for interested Zombies; go to www.welcometothebubs.com, where you can enlist as survivors, zombies, preppers, or as an interested party that would like to support the movie in other ways.
Audition dates are flexible. Further details for the actual audition will be sent to the actors selected to audition. Filming is taking place between mid-June and August this year in Marietta. Actors/zombies selected may be asked to return for the next episode. This production is being filmed in three parts and may be released as webisodes.
