Soccer and College Colors Day at Clayton State, Sponsored by The Loch Shop, Aug. 31
All Clayton State University students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, parents and friends are urged to break out their blue and orange outfits on Friday, Aug. 31 to show their support for the Lakers men’s soccer team on “College Colors Day.”
Although it’s not unusual for Clayton State faculty and staff to wear Laker Blue and Georgia Clay on Fridays, College Colors Day takes this tradition to another level, and encourages all Clayton Staters to take part. College Colors Day typically coincides with the kick-off of the intercollegiate athletic season, and seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that make the college traditions great by encouraging fans, alumni and students to wear apparel of their favorite college throughout the day on Friday, Aug. 31.
The Lakers will be opening their 2012 season with The Loch Shop Soccer Classic on Aug. 31, taking on the Pfeiffer University Falcons in the seventh annual version of this shootout, in a 7:30 p.m. game at Laker Field. The Lakers defeated Pfeiffer, 1-0, on a goal by Ryan Pugh in last year’s sixth annual version of the season-opening event.
Any individuals who bleed blue and orange, but who don’t have the appropriate gear, are naturally urged to stop by the shootout’s name sponsor, The Loch Shop, located on the first floor of the Clayton State Student Center, to pick up the appropriately-themed apparel, featuring, also naturally enough, the Clayton State mascot and logo, Loch.
