Insanity & PiYo Instructor Certifications
The Department of Recreation & Wellness will host Beachbody’s Insanity® instructor certification on Saturday, Aug.10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and PiYo instructor training on Sunday, Aug. 11, also from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the SAC Fitness Center Studio B.
Insanity's high-intensity activity forces the body to work for longer periods of time at a higher capacity than traditional workouts. As a result, people experience faster increases in cardiovascular fitness, and burn carbohydrates and fat more efficiently — as much as 1,000 calories per hour!
If yoga makes you yawn, Piyo will make you strong! Be a yoga rebel with PiYo Strength®. It's a unique core-strengthening workout inspired by yoga and Pilates. With upbeat music and a constant flow of moves, it's a rhythmic, dynamic, and intense workout designed to build strength and flexibility.
Both programs are open to everyone. The cost for Insanity® instructor certification is $249, and the cost for Piyo instructor training is $189.

Leadership Development in USG Gets a Boost Through Executive Education
Aspiring leaders and professionals within the University System of Georgia now have a new avenue to develop additional skills and expertise.
Starting this September, a number of USG employees who have previously participated in the USG’s Executive Leadership Institute will be identified and provided additional and more rigorous professional development through the USG Accelerated Leadership Academy. The USG Office of Human Resources Organizational Development, working with select programs and schools at USG institutions, developed the new program.
The program exclusively targets USG Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) Scholars. The Executive Leadership Institute is the flagship System-wide program developed in 2009 to prepare participants for advancement. The ALA will provide learning forums customized for leadership in higher education, executive coaching, career planning, and projects.
Program participants will have the opportunity to learn from instructors in four of the University System’s premier executive programs: the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology, the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University, and the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia.
“The purpose of the Accelerated Leadership Academy is to build a leadership culture by providing the next level of formal development for high-potential leaders in the University System,” said Tina Woodard, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Organizational Development. “This concentrated development effort is focused on a small number of leaders to prepare them for more demanding responsibilities.”
USG employees who are interested in learning more about the USG’s Executive Leadership Institute or the USG Accelerated Leadership Academy and how to participate should contact Woodard at tina.woodard@usg.edu.
